Just finished my tribute to my FAVORITE podcast, 'How Did This Get Made'.
It's a hilarious podcast where the brilliant cast reviews some of cinemas' more unfortunate efforts... Think 'Wicker Man' or 'Superman III'. As for my piece, I wanted to make and all out battle of some of my favorite film characters... 01. WALL.E from 'WALL.E' 02. The T-800 from 'Terminator' 03. Chucky from 'Child's Play' 04. Buzz Lightyear from 'Toy Story' 05. The Wicked Witch from 'The Wizard of Oz' 06. Harry Potter from 'Harry Potter' 07. Gollum from 'The Lord of the Rings' 08. Gremlins from 'Gremlins' 09. Jack Skelington from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' 10. Willy Wonka from 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' 11. ET from 'ET: The Extra Terrestrial' 12. Peter Venkman from 'Ghostbusters' 13. Beetlejuice from 'Beetlejuice' 14. Darth Vader from 'Star Wars' 15. The Bride from 'Kill Bill' 16. The T-Rex from 'Jurassic Park' 17. Ripley in the Power Loader from 'Aliens' 18. Edward Scissorhands from 'Edward Scissorhands' 19. Freddy from 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' ![]() Hope you enjoy, and check out the podcast! You won't be sorry! And... if you want a super-gigantor-version... Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

Thanks! As for Jack, I had the choice between adding a rock or some fire to fill that space, or add anther character and I thought it would be funny to take a character and show him more dead than usual. ![]() Thanks! Much appreciated!

Date Completed: 12/1/2012
Finally finished my 2012 Christmas Card design... Due to the complexity of last year's card (featuring a monster formed out of a massive toy pile) I couldn't really get too detailed, so this year I really wanted to just pick a few characters to feature and really amp up the finishing... And I'm running out of visual takes on Santa Clause. I decided this year the theme would be 'Animals'. I knew right off the bat that I wanted to do a Grizzly Bear as Santa... After that I went through tons of animals till I ended up with a monkey, rhino, owl, mouse, snake, and octopus as elves. I'm happy with the results... ![]() If you're interested, I've posted a 'Making Of' video on youtube to show the progress from sketch to the final piece... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQDzifIOWDY Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!

I'm doing a random piece featuring bada** versions of Smurfette, Rainbow Brite, and Cheetara from 'Smurfs', 'Raindow Brite', and 'Thundercats' receptively.
Here's the sketch... ![]() ... and here's the near complete version of Smurfette. ![]()

I initially tried to include Strawberry Shortcake (trying to focus on making bada** versions of NOT AT ALL bada** characters), but I gotta say... I was incapable of making her outfit hot, and I found that as I strayed from outfit too much she just became some red haired woman holding strawberries... So I scrapped her for Cheetara (who beat out Jem and Sheerah... ... because they aren't Thundercats, and Thundercats are awesome... according to me at age 6).

I love that last Christmas card. I actually think it's the best work I've seen you do. The composition of it is great. I do feel that you can push the depth and realism of the image, though, and not lose that trademark whimsy your work has. Also, it will help to reinforce the viewer's eye toward Santa. As it is right now, the rhino is competing for primary attention. I did a paint-over to show what I mean and how you can implement direct lighting, bounced lighting and atmosphere to enhance an already great image.

Mattchew, I LOVE your style and was wondering if you have done any Deadpool or Dr. Doom pieces. Im looking for my next tattoo and those are my two favorite characters, I would LOVE to have one of your pieces tattooed.

This is a little detour from my 80's cartoon girls pic...
I'm developing a web Sudoku game (and maybe spinning off onto mobile devices) as a learning exercise (I'm a web developer). I'm creating some graphics for the game... Here's the Robot that will be in the background of the game screen... Just the sketch and flat color versions so far. ![]() More to come.

Yeah... I actually have done a Steampunk Futurama piece a few years back, and this is, more than anything, a variation of the Bender I did then.

Unfortunately my mind goes to some awful places. But without the guns in her hands, this image takes an entirely different meaning.
