I guess I'll just say Iron Man portrayed that angle better.

I think Aliens is better than Alien. I appreciate Alien 'looks' better and has better supporting characters but the character arc of Ripley in Aliens trumps anything in Alien.

I like to think of them as one piece, even though they obviously weren't conceived that way. Ripley's arc from the first film through the second is brilliant. She goes from a blue color worker just doing her job, to a panicked soul desperate for survival, to a shell shocked mental case, to someone who finally makes a stand in the last 10 minutes of Aliens. She literally is running and trying to save her ass and the asses of the people she cares about for almost two whole movies until she finally goes "**** it. GET AWAY FROM HER YOU *****!" It is a transcendentally great piece of dramatic storytelling. At the end of Alien, she's a survivor. At the end of Aliens, she's a victor, literally and psychologically.

I can't imagine one without the other. For the longest time Aliens was my favorite (and it's still the one I reach for for a rewatch the most frequently), but now I can't separate them. Alien makes Aliens a better movie, and vice versa.

I don't think that's very unpopular. I'd say it's the more popular than the other opinion possible on those two films.

Oh and your wrong.

How? RDJ was ungodly likable the entire movie.

The point is to not be likable.

Why is that the point for Green Hornet?

Yes, if the feedback on AICN is anything to go by.

Wow, very well said. I agree with you.
Has there ever been a one two punch like that in cinematic history, two back to back masterpieces?

Star Wars - EBS
Godfather - Godfather 2

*before someone chimes in with BB - TDK, I think TDK is a masterpiece but BB certainly isn't.

The Fright Night reboot is one of the best horror reboots and genre films in the past decade, along with Trick 'r Treat and the Director's cut of Halloween II.

I seriously loved it. It was a terrific trip of adrenaline and suspense. In addition, the acknowledgment of the conventions was done maturely, unlike the past three Scream films.

Fair enough. Wasn't particularly bashing your opinion. It's just the thought of that movie makes me scream.

It wasn't my opinion. The remake wasn't a patch on the original (imho) but I'm thankful for the remake as it meant the orignal got a blu ray threatment

Ahhh yes... I've got to pick that up sometime.

But to stay on topic... unpopular opinion hmmm...
I like Back to the Future 3 more than 2. At least it was original.

I wouldn't say that. In order for something to be overrated you need to be able to talk about it.

I've seen so many people rag on the 3rd one and call it the "odd one out". Just seems like everyone's trying to attack it. But if I'm wrong, it makes me even happier.

I don't know what the consensus is around here, but every review I read of The Avengers that mentioned the score, also mentioned how forgettable it was. I'm still scratching my head over that one. The main hero theme is flat out great and all the little motifs woven through are a lot of fun. I think it's one of Silvestri's best scores in awhile. I can hear that guy that wrote the music for Predator and The Abyss in there.

I love the theme. It is a great theme. I think the motif could have been used more throughout the film.

I'm really missing that about movies. I wish more movies had themes that are used as motifs often in the score. We're getting less of that.

Another unpopular opinion: I hate Natural Born Killers with a burning passion. Oliver Stone tore apart Tarantino's great script.

I just don't like Oliver Stone's movies in general. Savages doesn't look like it'll change my opinion either. Kinda feel bad for Taylor Kitsch though....

That was the popular opinion when the score was heard before the movie was out. The main theme in that circular shot works perfect IMO.

I'm not sure if it quite belongs in this thread, but I'm ****ing sick of hearing how much people would prefer a tv show than a movie of comic properties.

What was the property in question?

Some comics would make for much better shows than movies - like The Walking Dead, for instance. But yeah, all of those people who thought a 12-part HBO miniseries was the only way to do Watchmen made me want to punch them in the face.
