Well, I was thinking about it. This is more a wish list, than ritualisticly (will bold the ones that I think could really work)
Fantomex (though I think he would work better in the Wolverine movie) Psylocke Pixie ( I would put her in bold, since I love her, but she is quite similar to Angel in First Class) Angel (Warren Worthington....I hated the X3 one) A younger Nightcrawler Sunfire Dazzler Bishop and Cable...somehow? Cannonball Armour BOOM BOOM (such a fun character :3, along with Dazzler and Pixie...I want one of them please) Cypher Magik

Fantomex would work very well in Vaughns world minus EVA. Dazzler would work well in the FC time period as well.
I have no idea how a few of them would fit but Id like to see any of these characters. Cable Domino Bishop Rachel Summers Psylocke Fantomex Polaris Scarlet Witch Husk Cannonball Last edited by def28; 06-09-2012 at 03:16 PM. |

I really like Rachel.
But rather than thinking 'i want so and so because she's great or my favourite' or whatever, you have to be logical and think what would work for the story and the movie.

Ive seen alot of hate on her over the years. . Rachel was introduced in DOFP and is a big part of that story. If there was ever a reaosn to put her in it would be DOFP. Thats why I put her there. With a franchise that randomly pics mutants and throws them in logic hasnt really played that part in all fairness. Last edited by def28; 06-09-2012 at 03:46 PM. |

But Rachel seems odd to me, because the Jean and Scott we know from the future didn't have a daughter, and we haven't yet met the Jean and Scott from the First Class series. So you are asking the mainstream audience to accept that somewhere there was another Jean and Scott... And since the characters in First Class haven't even met Jean and Scott, how will they accept a daughter. "Hi, I'm Rachel Summers. I'm the daughter of Scott, who you don't yet know but is the brother of Alex, who you do know - except you didn't know he had a brother - and Jean, who you don't yet know but is the lover of Scott, except you didn't know that yet. Got that." LOL I just think it's too confusing.

Chris Claremont's late work on her was awful. Then again, although he was a legend back in the day, Chris Claremont is awful on anything now.

Being logical as you said earlier to figure out a film that we know next to nothing about that uses possible time travel, different timlines and could litterly go any way it wants with introducing new characters in a franchise that seems to already pick its Mutants at random is a lil bit difficult, and is anyones call at this point. Its nothing more then personal preference. Using characters who are from the actual DOFP story, would not be a bad way to start discussing imo. Last edited by def28; 06-09-2012 at 09:41 PM. |

Polaris
If the story does indeed turn out to be DOFP then include Bishop. And get Idris Elba to play him. |

The First Class roster is rather impotent. The team felt like background scenery to fill in minutes when Magneto/Charles weren't talking. The problem is that the crux of the X-Men is the interpersonal conflict. Which only X-1 got kinda right.
First Class was wickedly awesome -- no doubt. But I hope they focus more on the team dynamics in the next flick. Throw in Polaris, and maybe an antagonist for Banshee. |

I wish the just did a full reboot.
Dancing around this jacked up continuity is ridiculous. ![]()

I'd rather see other mutants without fire-based or magnetic-based powers.

but Id like the new creative team to try to stay a little closer to the characters from first two generations of the comics that are left yet, so Polaris, Sunfire and Thunderbird are the mutants from those years that havent appeared yet. It would be great to see Polaris and Sunfire along with Havok, Banshee and Beast. And later in this new "prequel franchise", young Scott, Jean and Storm. probably on the 4 movie or so ![]() |

The DoFP story came in the comics a few issues after the death of Dark Phoenix - and Scott and Jean had not had a daughter in the comics before Jean died. But it does feel odd to me that Rachel is teavelling back to a time where she could not have been born. Surely, her time travel would go back along the timestream to a period where she could have been born (ie where Jean didn't die). She seems to have jumped into another timeline altogether. In other words, the X-Men are asked to stop a future that wouldn't have happened anyway in their timeline because Rachel couldn't have ever existed in the present day of the comics at the time. In my view, Rachel Summers is problematic for that reason. Firstly, the Summers connection, as I explained above. She would be better introduced if travelling back from a distant future to a present day of the X2/X3 time period, when Scott/Jean already existed. To bring her back into a time when Scott and Jean have not yet been introduced is odd. Also, she has Phoenix-like powers and visuals and the audience will notice that connection to Jean Grey even if you decide not to explain it. Rachel is obviously from a timeline that is nothing to do with X1/X2/X3 (because Jean/Scott died before having a daughter), so that is immediately introducing another alternate reality altogether. Let's look at the Star Trek model. It didn't open with the daughter of Kirk and Uhura suddenly appearing from some future where those two had got it together and had a child. It introduced the older Spock from what we can believe to be the established canon (from previous films and series) and then created an alternate timeline because Spock had changed the past by going through that black hole. I think the key to not confusing audiences is to accept that X1, X2, X3 and Wolverine are the established canon, and that they led to the dystopian future from which someone travels back (mentally or physically). This means that Jean and Scott didn't have a daughter. However, they may well choose to introduce Rachel and simply say that the assassination of Kennedy (or whatever the pivotal event is) led to a future in which Scott and Jean had a daughter. For me, it's an issue in that we haven't met Scott and Jean yet in the First Class films.

But not beyond hope or repair.
Alex is the older brother in Ultimate X-Men, and could be that in First Class, especially with a 12-year-old Scott lookalike appearing in the Cerebro sequence....

Especially if Ultimate X-Men did it that way. After all, Ultimate continuity was a big influence on Avengers too, so it has been used on screen before. As for rebooting, the general audience wouldn't understand that. Best to use DoFP to clean the slate and make all the previous films alternate versions, so they can start fresh.

Unless they start thinking about this stuff properly, it is going to become disastrous and then box office will suffer. Anyone creating a fantasy world in any professional sense, whether for books, TV or film, creates a timeline. Without structure, you have a mess. And sooner or later, everyone realises it.

As long as the next film works on its own and within the FC universe. I personally could care less how the film relates to the other films. But thats just me. |
