I'm in the camp that says the comics are just fine....not everything needs to be adapted to a screen.

That's like the most obnoxious camp there is.

Ooh, I love generalizations. Tell me how, exactly.
EDIT: And for the record, I don't hate the idea of adaptations, at all. The more fans you can make the better, through whatever media. As long as it's good. But someone like the Punisher, I really don't think he's going to translate to the screen that well. He's too much like the typical 80's action hero (even though he came before that craze) and he certainly doesn't have the rogues gallery to build a franchise around. I personally liked 04, though (that's unpopular). And something like Y: The Last Man seems so finite as is. I feel like a TV show/movie trilogy would just be rehashing what already worked just fine. When a movie is being made about a character that's 40 or 50 years into publication, you can be a bit more free with the adaptation, because no writer has stayed faithful to the source in that long a period anyway. When it comes to standalone series, though, it just seems a bit pointless. Again, all about execution. Last edited by Mario_Galaxy; 06-10-2012 at 06:41 PM. |

It was a letdown but I still think it's a decent film. It was fun to see the danger room sequence and the team head into battle towards the end. I loved Beast. |

yeah Kelsey Grammar was a boss in that film, I even liked the politician angle they added to his character, which I think was a little underused in terms of possabilities, I don't think they really have any mutants who are also Politicians in the comics or cartoons. (the only characters I can think of are bad guys, like kelley and graydon creed.) though I would have liked to see more of his scientist side as well.

1. I wasn't being entirely serious.
2. Mainly because Alan Moore is the mascot for that movement.

The alternate 1985 took the story darker, but it was cool. And re-visiting 1955 was genius. I loved Part 3 too. It was just a sweet way to wrap everything up, and the train sequence was amazing.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I think the reason I didn't find Prometheus all that scary or even creepy was because the Engineer looked like the Silver Surfer to me.

No, Prometheus really wasn't scary.
It was more straight sci-fi than horror like Alien.

Here's something that might be unpopular, but I think 90's Sam Raimi would've made an awesome batman movie. Just the overall aesthetic of Darkman would have made for a great batman, there's this one scene where he's just crouching between two gargoyles with lightning flashing behind him that is more evocative of batman than anything I've seen from the movies yet. sure the movie's campy, but I feel that camp oculd work for characters like the joker, and the villain in that movie (the taxidermy guy) was very much like penguin IMO.

I enjoy Iron Man 2 way more than its precursor. Make no mistake: I love both films and will acknowledge IM2 has its dents and paint inconsistencies, but I enjoy viewing it more. The scene at Randy's Doughnuts is my favorite.

I think Ivan Vanko is one of the best movie villains in the Marvel films, up there with Loki and Doc Ock.

The story in Spider-Man 3 is better than Spider-Man 2

You mean the actual plot?
I guess. But it was horribly scripted.

Nah, the way it was paced and scripted, Spider-Man 2 feels very disjointed

It does? I've seen a lot of disconjointed superhero movies, but SM2 never seemed to be one of them.
Spider-Man 3's script (or maybe it was the editing itself, who knows) felt very disconjoined; with the movie flipping back and forth between the various subplots without really any flow or solidified transition between scenes.

Both S-M 2 and 3 felt disjointed.

Why is it so hard for you people to explain anything.

Speaking of Spider-Man 2, even after all these years, it's still my favourite ever comic book movie.
I've never felt it was disjointed at all. Actually, I think it flows beautifully... |

My biggest complaint about it, and one that has unfortunately magnified throughout the years, is the corniness of the movie. Both through the dialogue, and Maguire's painfully awkward performance now make it come off more as a comedy than anything else.

I hated Moore, myself. He was to James Bond what George Clooney was to Batman.

Moore was a great/bad Bond because he played the character for laughs. Purists may not enjoy him, but I liked him for his light touch. It has a charm missing from most of the other versions of Bond. Moore's James Bond feels like a ten-year-old boy's fantasy of a super-spy. Connery's Bond is the same fantasy, but as imagined by a sad middle-aged man.
