...I wonder how the Fantastic Four would have handled the events of the movie Prometheus? Hmm.. another Fox film..
The next film should have cosmic exploration, with serious consequences.. |

well... i haven't been hearing that much greatness of prometheus from friends so far (i still want to see it, but been hearing as well its pretty much "Star Trek V", but... regardless, Prometheus's tone is nothing like the Fantastic four... though the premise is an interesting idea for them with Galactus or the Watchers or brood or something.

That's nice, but we are not going to see this in a movie any time soon, considering Spidey and the FF are owned by two different studios. These movies have to stand on their own for the most part, relying on important solo stories rather then crossover events, a comic book movie has to rely on its mythos, rogues gallery, supporting cast, etc. Black Widow and Nick Fury being in Iron Man 2 did not make the movie better, in fact they distracted from the main plot.

That's nice. But I've never once said a plot should center around anyone else but the title character. If anything a cameo. Not a cross over event

The X-Men movies are filled with pointless cameos that add nothing to the plot and just complicate things later, with two different versions of Emma Frost showing up the X-Men movies, because they wanted to have a pointless Emma Frost cameo in the Wolverine. I'm not a fan of these type of cameos, because of how often they are handled poorly.

You mean distracted you. The fan base seems to be 50/50 still on ironman 2... Which I actually think got a hell of alot better when you watch them all with avengers... And most the general public was distracted because they knew nothing of these characters....
But like I said, it's all situational and how it's handled Widows cameo wasn't a cameo. She was a cast member and written in nicely. It was fury who was more confusing to people because many didn't see the after credits of ironman. So adding him in felt kinda forced. Cameos work, and work well if handled properly. Like Hawkeye in Thor. Fans knew who he was, but the general audience assumes it was an agent. the banner reference in Thor wasn't distracting either, nor was thanos or project pegasus in avengers... |

But that was the problem for a lot people, this was supposed to be an Iron Man film, yet it seemed like a big advertisement for the Avengers film, which made it less cohesive as an Iron Man. And if these cameos are distracting to the general public, then they are doing the movie a disservice. Putting in cameos that make for a less cohesive film, just please fan boys, is not good movie making. Its not tight story telling. Quote:
Black Widow added nothing to that movie, kicking her out and focusing more on other characters would have made that movie stronger, the villain being out of focus for the whole second act made the film seem very confused and jumbled. Having Johnny and Spidey having a funny conservation seems like it would add nothing to the plot of an FF movie, where the focus should be on the FF and their story. In hero's movie, the focus should be on that hero or heroes, adding more characters doesn't always make things better. Also I didn't really care about Hawkeye being in the Thor it did nothing for me, seemed kinda pointless. It wasn't annoying or distracting persay, but it didn't enhance the movie in anyway for me. The only cameo I kinda liked was the Tony Stark cameo at the end of Incredible Hulk and Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man 1. The rest have either been pointless or annoying. |

i think sometimes even what seems like a harmless cameo scene can mess up the pacing of a movie. maybe not in itself ruining anything too much, but a few misjudgments over the course of a film can leave the audience feeling disjointed or that something felt off about things without really consciously being able to blame it on one thing or another.
it all, of course, comes down to writing and for whatever happens in the movie to come naturally from what's called for. so it's not like there's some of us that demand cameos and others that just hate them. a well done cameo, i'm sure we would all agree was good for the movie, but people like me or The Overlord would probably point out that this wasn't what we disliked about cameos. but a poorly done one, and then probably spideyboy_1111 would be saying that wasn't he meant by a good cameo. in general tho, i think that those kind of interconnections are a hard thing to have happen naturally and for people to know when to be firm and just cut them out when they don't add much. the hard choices about scenes like that are the little references. for example, i'm glad they cut the Pym reference in Thor. i think at some point, throwing in something like that can go against the way a character naturally structures their speech. not saying Selvig had much of a personality, but sometimes, people, in general, just wouldn't say things a certain way. even tho we can rationalize it saying, 'i don't see why someone couldn't say something like that', once we hear it, there's something unnatural about it. it's the same thing that alerts us in real life that someone might be lying or purposefully trying to talk to us just to be able to mention or ask us something that they don't want to seem obvious about. |

I can't see her as Sue Storm, not sure why....there is just a combination that the person has to have....can't really explain it.

i still think sue is suppose to have the "big sister" vibe to her... sorta like a grown up version of a girl from the Baby Sitters Club lol. Not sure Jessica has that, but she'd do decently.
If jessica biel could act, i could sorta see her with blonde hair and doing it. Unfortunately... her acting is about on par with Albas....
