I have a copy of LeafGreen that's just collecting dust due to my upgrading to a 3ds. I'd part with for free, to be honest.

I EV trained my first pokemon the other day. Normally I don't pay EV training any mind since I don't need to do so to beat the game, but I figured I'd give it a whirl. I EV trained a Hitmonlee with high speed and attack and special defence. He can't take a hit worth a ****, but he's fast enough to clear out most of the elite four without any problems. We'll see how he handles online play (which I still doubt I'll do).

I watched this the other day on Kotaku and I have to say the Ditto and Mew connection makes so much sense. As far as I'm concerned that little theory is canon.

I wish they would've left the Professor Oak battle in there. That would be great.

I always wondered how many of the Gold/Silver pokemon were designed before Gold/Silver came out. In the first episode of the TV show, they show a Ho-oh and make a rather big point about it. I didn't know if they just incorporated that design into the games later, or if it was an already-designed pokemon that they teased in the show.

Speaking of which they never even referred back to the significance of Ash seeing that Ho-oh. It just became one of those forgotten things.

I stopped watching after the Kanto region shows. I guess Ho-oh did show up in the show, didn't it?

When he split up with Brock and Misty but the significance in regards to the connection between Ash and Ho-Oh hasn't been explained.
Then again the original writer of the series passed away in 2010 and even before that they started telling him to make past Pokemon less apparent to highlight the newer ones more.

yeah, that's part of the reason I stopped watching. I didn't care about new pokemon that much.
But they did pepper in some of the Gen II pokemon in the Gen I shows. Togepi, Ho-oh, Marril. Those were all in the show before they even got to the Johto region.

Which was the beginning of prioritizing the new Pokemon and forgetting about the older ones almost completely.
![]() Oh well. It's just a little kids shonen at the end of the day so I can't expect this grand singular story when it's all said and done.

I quit watching the anime somewhere in the middle of Johto. Last I checked out of curiosity, there was a two-parter for the latest season that pitted Team Plasma against Team Rocket. Giovanni was even taking a role in it. Then it was cancelled because of the earthquake/tsunami that hit last year.

True. I doubt most of the little kids who play Pokemon nowadays ever played Nobunaga's Ambition. I remember playing it on the Genesis years and years ago.

Oh yeah; as a former fan of the anime, there are A LOT of things that I wish would have been addressed on the show. 1. Who the heck was Ash's Father? 2. What was Ash's connection with Ho-Oh? 3. Why didn't they conclude/follow up with the GS Ball arc (which is said to have originally be designed to contain celebi was dropped for some reason) etc. I also hated the fact that they never allowed Ash to physically grow in the anime like most anime characters can, and just keep him trapped at that age. Then there's the fact that his Pikachu as of late is always depowered whenever he starts a new journey, along with Ash's intelligence. You'd think that Ash should be one super smart, super mature trainer, with Pikachu being ultra strong, but they always push them back by a lot in order to make things harder for him on the show. I wish the current creators would have made it more mature themed in a sense where it'd be like Naruto almost. heck, that recent anime trailer for Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 is something that I would take a chance at looking at than what I've been told that they've been showing for quite awhile now. |

Yeah they've been playing it ultra safe due to the massive audience it has generated over the years and they realize that young kids make a large percent of that audience.
Heck even the fights have become less innovative. Now it's literally identical to a standard match in any of the games vs the NPC. I remember in the earlier episodes that wasn't the case and battles would be far more intricate in the sense that the trainer could do more complex commands that weren't directly from the game. Even the lingo of Ash's gang when they watch him battle now is along the lines of "Wow that's a critical hit" and "That attack was super effective", "He's now paralyzed so he can no longer move". It's like really? While the anime was always there to promote the video game it's clear that the creative flare the show once had really started to diminish for an ultra reverence to the games and act as a never ending instruction manual for the games. You're also right about Ash getting dumber too. He conveniently forgets what makes a trainer strong and whatnot so he can be given a speech by a supposedly wise character. Thing is he figured out that having a good relationship with his Pokemon is important a long time ago yet Ash responds by saying "Powerful pokemon make a powerful trainer!"......things like that show that any sort of mental or emotional growth is thrown by the wayside every time he goes to a new region and gets rebooted like a damn computer. The anime should have probably gracefully bowed out a while ago instead of lobotomizing Ash and keeping him on life support for the money.
