You think being a pregnant wife (all that is described here) makes one a pet? It seems you've already made up your mind, don't care about proper reading comprehension, and what to see what you want to see. That is pretty offensive and indicative of how the Left attacks women's femininity.

Bible holistically. In order to keep open mind about understanding the Christian faith, one has to read the Bible in proper historical context. I'll give benefit of doubt you're not trying to be the board's Bill Maher, pick and choose text and make sly retorts without right information. "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill," (Matt. 5:17). "Until Heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the law, until all is accomplished" (Matthew 5:18) What does Jesus mean to say that he is fulfilling the law or that there is more to be accomplished? The purpose of the Law is to instruct and guide the Jewish people to remember their Covenant with God and to constantly remind His people that they need a savior. The Law improves the character of His people, but they in itself didn't save His people. The Old Testament discusses prophecies of a messiah that will come and take the sacrifice of mankind's sin....and those prophecies were made while Israel was still under the Law. Isaiah 53 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. The Law in itself does not save people as no person is good enough to follow the whole Law. The Law is to remind people of their constant sin and that a Messiah will eventually come and satisfy the Law and provide the sacrifice for all mankind. To be clear, the prophets were not saved by following a set of laws. People were saved by faith and trust in God. God existed before Mosaic Law and tradition. There were also prophets that lived before Mosaic Law. Romans 4 King James Version (KJV) 4 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. God saves those who trust Him. Following Commandments and Law is a means of demonstrating that faith, but understand that even the best prophet fails and that failure has to be addressed. Your trust and faith in God is only thing that saves anybody. That was true now and back in the time of Old Testament. God is a spirit and he cares what is in your heart. He only saves your soul...he doesn't save your body. That passage about the Commandments further demonstrates this. The Ten Commandments are proper extension of the those 2 great commandments Jesus spoke of. Love God with all your heart and love your fellow man like God has loved you. If you did the first part, you won't honor false idols, make any images of heaven on earth, or use God's name to serve your selfish purpose. If you did the second part, you wouldn't steal, lie, murder neighbor, or commit adultery. Jesus here is explaining the purpose of the 10 Commandments to people who were thinking legalistically instead of spiritually. Jesus came in a period where there were centuries of Mosaic law and judgments on the books. He was addressing religious scholars who were using the judgments hypocritically to satisfy own purposes instead of lifting up God's kingdom. He's trying to remind the people what was the purpose of the Laws in the first place to those that have gotten corrupted. The 10 Commandments were written when the Jewish people had just been freed from Egyptians. The Laws had to be written because despite some of the Jew's good intentions, they had no foundation and were tempted to go back and worship false idols and the drop of the hat. Those laws and commandments need to be instilled in their character. Once they understood the Laws, Jesus comes and explains and puts the laws in proper spiritual context. It's the same as you have to discipline a child...but once the child grows up they understand why they needed to be disciplined.
