And yet we have countless sitcoms where men who are most definitely "gorgeous models" manage to land women who are too good for them in terms of look, personality and intelligence.

It depends. If the people are the stereotypical looking comic book nerd, slovenly and overweight, I agree. But if you're someone who goes to the gym regularly and eats right, it puts you in contention. You never know how life works.

With that said, you're basically right though. It's her life and we can give our opinion but it's up to her how to live it. Getting bent out of shape isn't healthy.
