I get a kick out of discussion/arguing around this issue but I think I'm starting to become bored of it.
I think I've talked about before how the older I get, the less seriously I can take religion. I can't take people who make these claims seriously. And over and over and over again, its just a brick wall in which people refuse to listen to reason. And I'm having a harder time telling the difference between fundamentalists, and people doing it for satire. The twitter logo is satanic. VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
Has to be satire!! It has to be!! But then again he has a video where its just him reading stuff from the bible. And a whole bunch of weird UFO conspiracy videos. I became aware of his videos after arguing with him on a totally separate video comments page, in which he said stuff like... Quote:

Wouldn't that actually support evolution/big bang more?
And for giggles, I don't see any hands in these pics...

I think that "CGI" planet is either Venus or Mars...

An Open Letter to Atheists:
Before you make any sweeping genralazations about religion or religious people, please consider what you would say if your statement was said by a theist about atheism. Thank you, Theists of the world |

The only sweeping generalization I will make is that they are all wrong. Which is what religious people tell me I am anyway. Well that, and that I will pay for my insolence.
But I do believe in keeping the discussion polite. |

Theists would do well to consider they're usually only one god away from being atheists too. |

Shemtov was referring to the picture you posted, a picture which is a bit distasteful. If theism is a virus then so are all thoughts, ideas, ideologies, and so on. I have heard it said that thoughts can be likened to viruses, minus all the bad stuff. The true virus is fundamentalism. It is entirely possible for a Theist to be a liberal, an evolutionist, a scientist, and even a skeptic (among other things). Theism is not just Christianity, Islam, and Judaism (for it includes Eastern religions and all forms of Deism), and even those three religions are not populated entirely or even mostly by fundamentalists. It should also be noted that fundamentalism is not a problem unique to Theism. Any grouping around an idea is vulnerable to it. Consider the comic wars: DC vs. Marvel. That is certainly fundamentalism (coming from someone who likes both; I adored The Avengers and I'm still anticipating TDKR like I've never anticipated a movie in my life). And how about environmentalism and Animal Protection/Rights? If PETA aren't fundamentalists, then I don't know what is.

![]() I’d dispute that deism is a subset of theism. The terms denote significantly different versions of god. If they were substantially the same, we could dispense with the separate terminology. |

By that definition, Deism (and its subforms) certainly is a form of theism. ETA... Anyone here good with making banners/headers? I need one for my blog that summarizes (in picture form, preferably) the things I talk about, which are atheism, music, feminism, fanaticism, movies, and so on. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Would you say pantheism--particularly Spinoza'a variety--is also a form of theism in the broadest sense or better classified as naturalism?

Spinoza's variety, however, is a form of Deism, and thus falls under the umbrella term of "theism". Though I would note that Spinoza's ideas are claimed more by Pandeism, as Pantheism had already been around before Spinoza. Naturalistic Pantheism does take its cue from Spinoza, as well, but Spinoza was not using God as a metaphor... he believed in the literal truth of what he taught. You'll have to define it, first...

^_^ today I learned that the Confucianism word "Shu" means the Golden rule. Basically treat others how you want to be treated.
Also, if a big rock slammed into the planet--comet/asteroid or zombies, or worse--Nazi Zombies..if any happened, would that disprove the big 3 religions?

The smallest irrational belief plants the seeds for bigger ones. Eventually you have these imaginary beings at war. At least with movies you have tangible products to discuss. You know what goes into them, who made them, etc. But I agree with you on fundamentalism in general. |

"God absolutely does not exist" is a positive claim, and thus the person who says it incurs the burden of proof. You can start by defining "God".

Absence of evidence does not equal evidence of absence, and we don't yet know what caused the Big Bang. I asked you to start by defining which god you're talking about, so I'd know where we'd be. For example... if you define "god" as omnimax Yahweh, then I think we can both agree that he doesn't exist. In fact, if you define "god" to be in any way personal, we'd also be in agreement that he/she/they/it doesn't exist. Personal gods can be logically and evidentially ruled out. So now that we have that out of the way, what's your best evidence against Pandeism?
