Meh. I prefer vampires stories on a horror level & not Buffy or Twilight type story.

I prefer my vampires scary too but I think comparing Buffy to Twilight is a bit harsh. I'm not a huge Buffy fan or anything but I remember it being pretty clever... Not half as clever as it thought it was, but certainly smarter than any other teen-oriented show from back in the day.

She's cool as a character
Season 1 is awesome Season 2 is ok Season 3 is awesome Season 4 is good The rest bounce from fun to meh, I thought Angel is a better show overall But I could still care less about their comics

Yeah, I couldn't care less about the comics either. I remember the most recent one came out and Dark Horse tried selling it as 'Season 8', all I could think was "Okay... But it's not though, is it?"
There was a desperate marketing ploy if ever there was one... |

If I didn't like Fray or Whedon's Kitty Pryde, and River is my least favorite Firefly character, is it safe to say I probably wouldn't care for Buffy either? I don't know much about the character or the show in general, but I've heard those characters described as Buffy-like.
Going back a page to Firefly: It shows that when Whedon's on, he's really on. All the characters have good depth and development, and their dialogue is clever without being too much.

Okay, well that's Whedon done. Time for something a bit different:

Cal McDonald is Templesmith and Niles' noirish supernatural investigator character.
He's basically John Constantine if John Constantine had been created by Raymond Chandler. So yeah, his book Criminal Macabre is basically a bit like the American Hellblazer. First story's not bad. Forgettable but I remember it was a decent read... |

I can't really offer an opinion on it, since I mainly stick with mainstream comics DC/Marvel. It's probably a little interesting, but may try it sometime later.

Yeah, I knew this was gonna be one of the obscurer characters but the total randomness of this thread, I think, is it's greatest strength.
Hypesters come in and they never know what they're gonna get. One day it could be a universally-known pop icon like Tarzan and the next it could be Robert Crumb's Fritz The Cat or something...

Oh, definitely! I mean, if just one person gets into something like Fear Agent or Morning Glories because they saw it here then, yeah, mission accomplished.

I have wanted to get into the Criminal Macabre for some years. I just haven't got around to it yet. I bet the titles are really cheap.

The biggest, smelliest, bloated, & certainly the vilest gangster in Tatooine & Star Wars galaxy. In the words of Han Solo, "3P0 ,you tell that slimey, piece of worm ridden, filth, he'll get no pleasure from us".

Jabba is an excellent villain.
Although I never understood why he wasn't shot or strangled a lot sooner than he was. Dude can't run. |
