But, anyways, I actually enjoyed the movie. But, at the same time I recognize it's glaring flaws and understand why it was critically rejected. Just because a movie is bad doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. I would give JC a 6/10. Last edited by C. Lee; 06-22-2012 at 08:38 AM. |

I think the script did it's best, but I can't help it to think they could have done a better job with John's backstory, and the backstory of the civil war at Mars. Sure this was a long movie, but I felt it needed another polish.

1) I didnt read the book but I wouldve made the journey that John takes with Deja and Sola main plot of the movie. Like after 30 mins they're on that journey for the majority of the film instead
2) As Octoberist said, more about Martian civil war and JOhn's back story |

JC's the latest entry in AV Club's "My World of Flops". Not much we haven't heard before, but still worth a read for some brainy analysis.

It also needed better definition between the three acts, IMO.

And no Taylor Kitsch/Lynn Collins. Terrible miscasts and they were the face of the movie, unfortunately. Funny thing is, James Purefoy was right there, next to Hinds.

Fair enough, but in these matters personal taste isn't enough, I'm afraid. That's why I used the "face of the movie" argument.

![]() but for me I couldn't find any major flaws within the movie itself, there's some minor criticism like as someone said earlier the 3 acts feels disconnected. Does anyone know if there was deleted scenes that was added in the entire film or was it separate?

See that was my only issue with this movie as well the last half of the movie felt off for some reason other than that I loved it.

I thought Collins was fine in the role. I could see some argument that Kitsch was "wooden" in the movie but I thought he did okay enough.

She was overracting, he was underracting, imo. And not in a complimentary, play-off-each-other way.

Miscast would be Jack Black as James Bond, or Natalie Portman being cast as Superman.

Well then you really are off, because Lynn Collins is a fine actress, who fit the character to a tee.

I don't see why I should argue that her performance here and everywhere I've seen her in does nothing for me. It's a matter of personal taste. And I never start arguments with anyone who gives me the "you really are off/wrong/etc" treatment. Sorry.

Have you read the source material? You might not like her acting, but she most certainly fits the character.
