The Republican part has been taken over by the hard right. At least they keep on heading that way. And when the American people "have to choose between the lesser of two evils", we get what we got.

Huge win for Obama today. However, now Holder is being held in contempt by Congress which is a loss in and of itself. Still, something tells me he'd take his key piece of legislation being upheld over Holder not being held in contempt.
![]() Part of me thinks that he should force Holder to resign. It may be admitting defeat, but it is less embarrassing than defending an A.G. who is acting unethically (regardless of Congress' motives, Holder is acting unethically) during an election year. He needs to ride the win and distance himself from Holder, not squander any goodwill that he gets from the win to defend Holder.

Do you think Congress' persecution of Holder is justified and non-partisan?

But their contempt charges are justified. Whether they are motivated by partisanship or not is another question, but they are certainly justified. Holder is acting in contempt.

I actually think that it would have been better for Obama if health care lost 5-4(on a partisan basis). After the past week it will be hard for Obama to campaign that the SCOTUS needs more liberals. It also gives Romney an issue to campaign on(ie getting rid of Obamacare) Last edited by SV Fan; 06-28-2012 at 04:59 PM. |

Well yeah, the Republicans are really only going after Holder because he's not a Republican (just like how Democrats are only defending him because he's one of them). It's politics, these petty games go on all the time.
It's just like how the Republicans defended the Bush Administration when they were essentially doing the exact same things. |

Somehow when this is juxtaposed with the SCOTUS upholding Obamacare as Constitutional, it makes the GOP look really even more petty. The GOP around the country just wasted millions of dollars and years of court cases only to be smacked down as partisans by the Court and at the same time hold a member of the Cabinet in contempt just because he's a Democrat.
It's pretty pathetic. Not that it will have an electoral effect nor will it stick on Holder, because the prosecutors know it's BS and as they will be working for the WH, it won't go anywhere. Just more Republican pandering by going after Holder because he is a boogeyman on Fox News because they think he'll "take away our guns" based on nothing other than being a (black) friend of Obama's. I'm not defending FAF. It was a terrible, awful policy that was only marginally stupider than a Bush-era policy the GOP defended. However, this has nothing to do with FAF. It is politics and nothing more.

I see it as having to do with both. Holder is getting rightfully punished for Fast and Furious, but at the same time, it's petty politics.

It's partisan politics, but Obama and Holder are not transparent public officials and they should be held accountable for that.

I'm probably voting Libertarian this year.

That's true. And I remember when ever the question came up about whether the Democrats should impeach Bush, the idea was blown off as it just being a partisan scheme to get back at the Republicans for what they did to Clinton. Democrats really need to grow a spine. |

Obama coming out in support of gay marriage boosted him with some liberals, but the liberal bloc isn't enough to reelect him.
To a lot of other Americans, jobs are a far more pressing and relevant issue than gay marriage. The state of the economy and Obama's perceived handling of it is gonna count for more than him supporting gay marriage.

Outfits like XCOR Aerospace and Virgin Galactic plan to offer commercial flights to passengers willing to pay the cost of the ride. NASA will focus now on long duration missions (trips to asteroids and Mars) while private industry will will focus on routine flights to the ISS and other commercial space flights.

looks like Obama's social security number is in question too.
Source Seems given the sequence it would've been issued in Connecticut around the time Obama was 15. A private investigator is filing to keep him off the Ohio ballot because of it. Yet one more thing the general media will ignore. At the very least this one should be followed up on especially given the paper trail.

WND is full of fruitcake conspiracy theoriests that believe everything from Obama being born in Kenya, to the nutty social security stuff that Orly Taitz (the dentist lawyer) first waved around in court (thrown out by judges).
This stuff has as much credibility as conspiracies that the moon is made of cheese. WND make money off of the gullible, their journalists are racist loons. |

*sigh* Birthers...
Either way, I'd take the candidate that was born offshore over the candidate that keeps his money offshore. |
