We're thrilled to say that the Olympic Flame has arrived in the UK! Here's the moment just after a very proud David Beckham lit the first London 2012 Olympic Torch with the Flame: http://l2012.cm/KtaD4L More pics coming shortly!

Will.I.Am carrying the olympic torch was random.

I think Dwayne Chambers might grudgingly get into team GB. Alot of other athletes and press in the UK hate the guy.

Britain has a basketball team?

I've been doing some work up Olympics Park, at the broadcast centre. The whole place looks so far off from being finished. The next month is gonna be insane.

Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson retires before Olympic Trials

This blows! I was looking forward to seeing her compete.

Saudi Arabia to let women compete in Olympics for first time

I think a lot more people will check in to see this.

Watching some track and field over the weekend and here are a few notes:

- Usain Bolt qualifies for the Olympics, but lost twice in the Jamaican Championships to Yohan Blake.
- Allyson Felix and Sanya Richards-Ross are the favorites to win Olympic gold medals in their respective events. Of course, they were supposed to be the favorites heading into Beijing and we know what happened there. An Olympic gold medal would absolutely seal their legacies, even if they decide to return for one last Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in four years (Felix will be 30 and Richards-Ross will be 31 by the Rio games). However, in her 200 meter final, Felix just cruised past the rest of the field to set a world leading time. I do think both will win gold medals.
- The near lock in Olympics Track and Field comes in the Women's 100 Meter Hurdles. Except for a slip up in Zurich last year, Sally Pearson's been virtually unstoppable since the start of 2011 and she could break the World Record of 12:21. A slip up from Pearson (DQ for False Start, a hurdles trip, an injury before the finals or a slow start off the blocks) means a wide open field. Sally Pearson will be the star of the Track and Field events in the Olympics if she dominates.
- If Pearson falters, the field is wide open. It could also be the perfect opportunity for defending Olympic Champion Dawn Harper. Since her win in Beijing four years ago, she has completely flown under the radar. Sanya Richards-Ross and Allyson Felix get a lot of media buzz and rightfully so (they have had a very long list of accomplishments to back up the buzz both have been getting), but neither has an individual Olympic gold medal and Harper does. Well, if Harper successfully defends her gold medal, it's going to be very hard for the media to ignore her. I could also see Britain's Tiffany Porter slip into medal contention.

An amputee being allowed to run in London and the paralympics? If you're gonna let him run in the real deal (which he shouldn't) at least make him choose one or the other. An Olympic athlete competing in the paralympics in the same year is outrageous.

Did the amputee guy qualify? If so, why shouldn't he run London?

Because it can be seen as an advantage that he never has to deal with foot and calf problems every other competitor can have.

Sort of like HBO(and similar creatures) here in the states. You shouldn't be eligible for the emmys and the cable awards.

London Olympics Doping agency are drug checking over half of all athletes competing and everyone who wins a medal.

They want to make it the cleanest games ever (take drugs cheating very seriously in the UK).

Anyone overseas going to try to make it to any of the events?

You would think they'd do that already.

You would think but sadly there are a number of shady people who are happy to look the other way involving drugs cheating
