^^ Wasn't he jammed up in a drain pipe when he uses it?
(It's been years since I've read the book) |

EDIT: Misread what you wrote. He uses it once in the drainpipe and blows the leg off a raptor. He panicked and didn't wait for a clear shot.

****, it's been so long since I read the book. I forgot how awesome Muldoon was in it. Strange he lived in the book. Same with Gennero.

Muldoon and especially Gennaro were really shortchanged in the film. Gennaro in the film is more like Regis from the book.

And Gennaro more like the guy who was looking after the kids. I forgot his name... Thomas or something?

That was Ed Regis. He was the InGen publicist that was guiding the tour. He was in the car with the kids when the power went out and abandoned them right before the T. rex attack. Later he was eaten by the juvenile T. rex who played around with him a bit first. Gennaro had left the tour by that point in the book. He stayed with Sattler and Harding after they got out to visit the sick Stegasaurus. |

I could get on board with a prequel to the first film. I think it could be interesting and mysterious. They wouldn't have to worry about conjuring a reason for people to come into contact with dinosaurs roaming around on the islands. You could establish Biosyn more in depth and have espionage with them watching InGen's developments, and perhaps tampering a little. Just a thought for something a bit different. Or obviously they go for a 4th film set some time after JP3.

I don't see the point of a prequel.

Better than another crappy sequel.
Really, if it's a reboot / prequel showing the birth of Jurassic Park, that could work. |

I would actually like to see a movie set 10 years after Jurassic Park III, just to see in which direction they will take the next trilogy, and how things in the world have changed now that some of the dinossaurs got away.
After seeing this i wouldn't mind a Prequel/ Reboot like Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I don't ever recall a prequel rumor before. But I agree would be pointless and silly to do one. Either form a good seqeul story be it something like I came up with or something else. Or reboot but I prefer a sequel.

Why not do a reboot and a prequel? We've already seen Jurassic Park from an outsider's perspective. Why not see it from the perspective of the people creating the dinosaurs?

I could get behind that, set it in like the 70's/80's (I'd imagine it took a while to get something that huge off the ground), cast a young(er) Hammond, it could be really cool.

It doesn't matter. What there was a 'accident' too with the creation of Jurassic Park? Then it'll end up being the same thing again.

You see a whole other side of it. Especially if you set it in the present or near future. Seeing it brought about, is very different then some people visiting it. A much deeper irony too. Creator vs creation. Not to mention, seeing a T. rex born. Now yes, the dinosaurs rampaging, would be similar because... that's what the series is about.

If it's done well, then I'm all for it. But you don't want to repeat the same thing and that's why Universal hired the lovely writers from 'Rise' to give the franchise a new intelligent take that can keep the IP some freshness.
The problem, again, is that if it's a prequel, you'll telling me that there was an accident with the dinosaurs...which was never mentioned by Hammond in the 'later' films? And no further actions were taken to prevent something like that to happen again in present day when the first movie happened? Thats the tough part. You can't make it contrived and forced.

Very cool. I think well start seeing a return of 90s franchises in the next few years. People are starting to get nostalgic.

Ya a sequel I still say is better then reboot/prequel. I still think going around with idea I mentioned pages ago would be a good story.
