God... I really love Michael Keaton's Batman suits.

Practicality be damned... they look amazing.

thing I'd like to add to this thread is that both of Burton's films are parodies of greed and excess in the increasingly commercial world. All of Gotham is willing to forgive the Joker because he runs a TV ad promising to hand out free money. And this is only after he poisoned all the products that appeal to their vanity like perfume, facial cream, etc. And they still show up and applaud him because he is the man with money and in America you can literally get away with murder if you are rich enough and promise to trickle it down. In BR, it's Christmas time but it's also set around an evil industrialist who owns the biggest chain of department stores in the city. Selina must reject this crass commercialism by destroying it all in her house to be free and later the store itself. The villains use Christmas to their own gain and it feels less like Peace on Earth than a bunch of idiot Gothamites being herded along like cattle by Schreck to buy what he wants them to buy and think what he wants them to think with his media blitz supporting the Penguin.
Good observations.

I'd have to disagree on you there, Batman '89 wasn't just a movie but rather an even in itself that lasted until maybe it's release on VHS that everyone was curious enough to see it even those that were fans of the 60's Batman series or just casual folks that grew up on The Superfriends.

And the merchandise was huge that even T-shirt bootleggers got into the act, at the time I was living in Ecuador that all my classmates made a point to see it and let's not forget the Prince Bat-dance video which is silly but back then you couldn't take you're eyes off of it.

With Spider-Man I didn't feel that vibe.

Why are the cops in B'89 totally cool with Batman murdering the Joker?

In BR, Batman is wanted for allegedly killing the Ice Princess but in B'89, after killing the Joker, law enforcement reads his invitation to the public.

The police are definitely a weak point in both movies.

Police are usually a weak point in comic book films.

Great poster and the Hot Toys 89 Batman is gorgeous but I would have went with an actual picture of Keaton. Still cool though.

Wasn't the Ice Princess just viewed as a model? She wasn't a villain, was she?

Oh I see. Murder is fine under the law of Gotham City as long as you murder someone else who has murdered. Gotcha.

The GCPD view Batman as a vigilante commiting illegal acts all throughout B'89 but the moment he murders the Joker, they're not only cool with him but literally reading his messages to the public too.

Well, Batman didnt really kill Joker. He just tied his leg to a statue so he wont be able to escape. What happened later was something no one could predict

Yeah, it was similar to how Batman killed Two-Face in TDK. Sure, he is responsible for the death, but it wasn't a premeditated murder.

Oh yeah, I totally understand all of the Batman movies should not be over thought, I just like to do a bit of musing. All tongue in cheek of course.

Oh no... I'm the same.

I'm just saying, I don't think Tim Burton or any of the screenwriters gave that much thought to the role of the police in those two movies.

In fact Gordon and the police force were downright incompetent in the Burton/Schumacher series.

Batman didn't "murder" Joker in B89. He used his grappling hook to tie Joker to the gargoyle on the cathedral roof to stop him from escaping. Batman had no idea the gargoyle would break off.

As far as the Ice Princess goes, she was basically an innocent model. The Joker, on the other hand, murdered dozens upon dozens of people.
