They would be crazy if they introduced GG in ASM 2. Norman, yes. Give him they accident to give him powers, if you must. But DON'T have the GG in ASM2, give us something new and fresh. |

I would absolutely HATE them if they would make some other villain kill Gwen... then I would really just beg them to give the rights back to Marvel

See; now there's the dilemma. Some would say that Gwen should die in the second film if the franchise is to conclude at the third film in order for the final film to end on a positive note, but others would say wait and hold off on that since they don't want to see the GG right away.

this trilogy just can't end on a sour note, that is one of the very reasons why Spider-Man 3 doesn't feel like a proper ending to the trilogy

its a shame that to please fans they have to use the GG but at same time critics will rip it to pieces for being to similar
unless webb goes the ultimate route but apparently fans want the classic goblin, well ok what if she doesnt die on the bridge just to stop it from being to similar to SM1? some may be forgiving of that but alot would hate it so does webb say get lost to the critics and make something faithful or change it the best way he can to make it fresh and different |

give us other main villain but at the same time, introduce green goblin slowly,
but if webb decides not to kill gwen, then the green goblin won't appear, right ? |

I dont think thats up to Webb really. Sony probably knows exactly who they want to use and when for that moment.
Gwens death, since it hasnt been done yet on screen. Is a pretty big deal that fans are now waiting to happen. Pretty historic Spidey moment. They have to be carful on that. They can delay for awhile but I think giving fans the death of Gwen at the hands of someone else will def cause problems. Last edited by def28; 07-11-2012 at 09:16 AM. |

This is very difficult. Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy is just too good to get tossed out in the second one already :/ but I wouldn't want the trilogy to end in a sad note either.
Also, IMO, Norman Osborn has to be more developed before his turn to be main villain. I'm not really sure what I'd chose here. It'd be nice to have another unused villain and wait for Green Goblin and Gwen's death 'til ASM3. Maybe there's a way to kill Gwen in the third and still make it a good finish of the trilogy?

CBMs I enjoy the most at this moment: 1) The Avengers, 2) The Dark Knight, 3) Iron Man 3, 4) Iron Man, 5) The Amazing Spider-Man. CBMs in the near future I'm most looking forward to at this moment: 2) Thor 2, 3) Man of Steel, 4) The Amazing Spider-Man 2, 5) Guardians of the Galaxy (would be higher in the list if it wasn't for how much I hate the film Super from the same director). |

It'd be hard to do that as far as character development goes. Gwen's death would be the big beacon that Peter's broken his promise to Captain Stacy. You can wrap up a lot of loose ends, but Spider-Man really gets nothing good out of it.

Alright, so I've read some peoples' thoughts and I think I'll weigh in on this myself.
The thing is: You can't just assume that there will be more than three movies in a franchise. When you do that, you get ahead of yourself and run the risk of tripping. In my opinion, I think it would be fine to layout the ground-work for a three movie arc, but keep it at that. After the third, if it's still fresh, then go from there. Personally, I'd rather have fewer elements done well, than a ton of elements crammed into one movie and none of them done justice (remember Spider-Man 3?). Less is more. So...my thoughts on the sequel: - Peter in college. That's the next logical step and gives the filmmakers a great venue to introduce new characters. Perhaps Harry is Peter's roommate? Perhaps Mary Jane is Gwen's roommate? There is a plethora of possibilities opened up by putting Peter into college. Including... - The Daily Bugle. A lot of college students end up getting part-time jobs/internships with local businesses. It makes perfect sense that Peter would start doing some freelance work for a local paper. This also allows for the introduction of Eddie Brock and J. Jonah Jameson - even if they are only small roles. Just because Brock is introduced doesn't mean we have to immediately introduce Venom, or even the black suit. - Gwen Stacy's death. This should come at the climax of the second movie and propel Peter through the third. I know a lot of people don't want that to come until the third movie, but it really does need to come in the second if it's going to happen at all. The reason being: If it comes in the third movie, then you're left with no time to develop a relationship between Mary Jane and Peter. Additionally, it's just not a good idea to end a trilogy on such a down-note. - Norman Osborn has to be in the second movie. That isn't to say he has to be the Green Goblin in the second movie though. I agree with a lot of people: Save Goblin for the third. Build up to it. TASM hinted at the idea of Norman being responsible for the deaths of Peter's parents - tie that all up with the third movie. It would be that much more satisfying of an ending if Norman is also responsible for Gwen's death. - The primary villain has to be different than The Lizard. Another mutant won't excite audiences the same way the second time around. A friend of mine really wants to see Mysterio, and as cool as that might be to see on-screen, I'm not sure how they could do it and not draw the obvious comparisons to Batman's Scarecrow. Personally, I think Kraven is probably the best choice, especially if he is bank-rolled by Oscorp to hunt Spider-Man. I suppose that, if Sony is really so bent on the idea of doing a Venom spin-off, Venom could be the enemy of the second - acting independently whilst Norman Osborn poses the real threat in the background, still carrying on Connors' work as a set-up for the third film. Sort of a war on two fronts for Spider-Man. Those are just my thoughts. |

There have been times as of late where I’ve asked myself, what would a franchise with Garfield be like if TASM WAS the FIRST Spider-Man movie made? I mean, if they weren’t boggled down from arcs that have already been done in the past, then I would have loved to have seen a trilogy where Norman was introduced in the first film, and turned Goblin in the second film, with Venom being the final villain of the series, with it being revealed that the black suit is what Richard Parker was working on before he died.

I think building up Norman Osborn will pay off.
It also makes more sense for Peter to meet Harry in college. Why would a multi-billionaire send his only son to a public high school? |

For what? Unless Harry is a lech, or violent, it's fairly hard to get kicked out of private school if your dad is a billionaire.
Hell, if you're Norman Osborn you could just hire an army of tutors. The only reason I can think of why Harry would be sent to public school is because his father either really hates him, or because Norman doesn't want to hand him anything. |

What I want for ASM2: Starting college (but no stupid sub plots about Gwen going to a different school to create forced unneeded tension. That seems like something Orci & Kurtzman would do) Formally introduce Norman Osborn in person as an important character (but no Green Goblin yet) Introduce Peter to the parent conspiracy, move it along, but don't solve it yet (In the first one all he knows is that his parents left without reason, he doesnt know about the oscorp conspiracy yet. Let him in on it) I also want them to expand on the things that got deleted from the first movie, hinted at in trailers and in the video game. Something about Peter is special, which keeps him from turning into a Man-Spider like Connors did with lizard DNA. Keep Dr Connors around as a side character in this conspiracy (recurring side role) Mysterio as the Villain (he seems like the most likely, entertaining choice while not doing what has already been done in recent years) More of the more quiet and sweet moments between Peter and Gwen. Give the Daily Bugle more presence in the movie, maybe even show JJJ on television a couple of times. (But don't have Peter work there or interact directly with JJJ yet. No need to rush, but showing that these things exist without making a big deal about it make the world feel larger. Much like Oscorp and Osborn in the first one) Also, have JK Simmons play him again. Just...just do it. Maybe have him tone it down a bit for this more realistic movieverse, but just do it. Don't do the cliche thing and kill off the villain. My friends and I all loved that Connors was left alive (for a change). Makes it feel more like the world of the comics, making me imagine all the the future tangles the characters might have even long after the movie series is over. It just makes the world feel so much larger. Also, it seems like Sony and Marvel/Disney might want to start playing nice soon, with Oscorp almost being in Avengers and the stuff Avi Arad has been saying lately. Work it out, get Avengers Tower in the background of a couple scenes, get Fury or Stark in an after credits scene observing Peter as an up-and-coming future candidate for some involvement with Shield!

I would like to see the Bugle and its staff for sure, Harry Osborn, more of Norman Osborn, and maybe MJ.
