How do you know that?
I dont see it that way at all. There's no way both Jonah and Goyer would be involved like that, they might as well have it be in the same continuity as Nolans trilogy if that were the case. All the ground work had been done for Man of Steel before Snyder was hired, Nolan was going to direct it but didn't have the time so he hired somebody else. No matter what people say, Zack is almost like a second-unit director in all of this. The fact that he goes to Nolan to approve his suggestions? That's NOT what the reboot was ever going to be. If Nolan was producing and making choices, with his writing team, and just hiring a new director. That director doesn't really have much freedom at all to call it his own. Therefore it would come off as a Nolan-esque or nolan ripoff. The idea is to give a director complete freedom. If he wants to write it he can. This is Nolans last run with Batman and he would have never forced his writers onto the reboot, because he's finished his run already. He would have just been a producer, made suggestions for the director and made sure it was taken seriously. That's it. They actually dont need Nolan to do this. They'll get the "memo" now that the trilogy will be done. And i dont see how you would know that Nolan would be super quick about choosing the director and getting it done pronto. If anything he would have taken his time to leave as much distance as possible to his trilogy, to get the next one right without rushing, but not toooooo long to the point where people start forgetting about the character. |

Is it just me or does it seem that some people almost refer to Nolan in revered tones like a religious figure. Batman trilogy has been good but it's not Ben-Hur. Plenty of good directors out there WB needs to follow Marvel and just getting some decent movies out that tie together and create an awesome DC universe.

Nolan was never going to direct the Superman reboot. He was supposed to "mentor" a new director from day one when the project was announced on Herocomplex. As far as Nolan initially supposed to have creative control on the Batman reboot: Quote:
That's the impression I got from this. Robinov made it sound like Chris and Emma would be needed to help 'reinvent' the character and plan the reboot. That was the plan. Now that plan is dead... which means possible development hell for Batman. |

Well I guess Batman will have to stem from the JL movie.

Does Nolan kind of come off as a douche to anyone else in that article? Kind of pretentious honestly.

And now the next Batman will follow TDKR, one of the greatest films possibly ever made. An Oscar-calibur film. It's really not something they can rush into. It's basically the same scenario. A new L.A. Times article just came out about the Nolan/Robinov fiasco, confirms he won't be involved in the Batman reboot: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...,4654712.story Honestly, it doesn't look good for WB/DC with Chris gone. |

If WB is set to keep the same tone of the Nolan films then they are screwed imo. I'd love to see them introduce a bit of fantasy but still keep it dark. That way characters that Nolan couldn't introduce (such as Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, etc) could be given a chance.
My dream scenario is to see a series of Batman films similar to Harry Potter that sees the possibilities of decades play out for all characters. Starting with a Year One Bats and the introduction of Grayson Robin and his turn to Nightwing, Batgirl, a 2nd Robin at the very least (personally I'd love to see the death and return of Jason Todd) and each film having a new villain introduced and their story told for that film. Still while someone such as Mr. Freeze is the baddie, the Joker is locked up in Arkham and that is the perfect time to introduce Harleen Quinzel. The possibilities are endless. It's just a matter of having the right actors, writers and directors on board for such a lengthy series. I'm a huge fan of Bryan Cranston and would love to see him portray Mr. Freeze. Another I wouldn't mind seeing is Amber Heard as Harley Quinn. Last edited by shiveringmelody; 07-11-2012 at 06:58 AM. |

Lol, I mean in the sense of like 7-8 films. Just with the possibility of the series told over a longer time to go from a young fresh bats to an old and grey Bruce.

At this point, the most important thing is to find the right writers and director. I say since I'm still adamant that Clooney could of been a great Bruce Wayne if not for terrible script and direction of Batman & Robin.
Just seems like WB is setting themselves up to follow in Nolan's style and without him that is just asking for trouble. What WB does next will be very telling of just how much Nolan meant to them. |

Agreed. TIH was an underrated movie though.

TA to me was more memorable than any of the DK movies but Batman seems better in comics than on the silver screen for me. For some reason some characters like Punisher and Batman and Wolverine for that matter just seem alot better in the books than in movies. IM seems better on the silver screen than in comics. I love to see a perfectly made movie but honestly I would rather see alot of 8/10 comic book movies that bring in money for the studios than one or two 10/10. Even a badly done Green Lantern is better than most other crap they put out movie wise today. |

Bryan Cranston HAS to play Gordon. It couldn't be more perfect.

Richard Armitage - The Hobbit, Captain America and BBC's Robin Hood
his 6,2 but he is 40 years old so might be a little too old for the role if they are going for a younger Batman.

I'm a big Marvel fan and I completely agree! I mean, I do like the way Marvel gets on with its movies and the movies are how I got into comics but I love first class and think it a real cut above almost all other superhero films, bar X2, Batman Begins and probably TDK when I see it. Maybe TA will also be in that bracket. Anyway, First Class is my favourite superhero movie ever!
