Hey everyone! Having seen ASM last week (and loved it) with a bunch of friends, I encountered something weird and I wanted to see if anyone else had heard the same sort of thing...

Basically I went to see the movie with a bunch of 6 other enthusiastic but non-comic book people. They all loved the movie, BUT in our inevitable post movie discusions it became clear that literally half of them had spent the entire movie thinking the lizard was the same character as the green goblin from Rami's first spider-man film.

I was astounded, as to me the differences couldn't be plainer. Hell the movie itself makes the difference clear to me! But these are not stupid people, all of them are post grads and were really keen to see the movie, so it wasn't like they weren't paying attention... I dunno has anyone else experienced a similar thing with friends they've gone to see the film with? Was the plot line too similar for GA to tell the difference? (science experiment at oscorp gone wrong = green baddie for Spidey to battle) Would be interested to see what people think.

Aside from that, yeah couldn't be happier with the reboot. Love Andrew Garfield as webhead, and can't wait for the next one.

Saw the movie 2 days ago and I have to say I liked it. I liked the previous movies as well and I like this one just as much.

I do have one problem with this film though. It seems they cut a lot of scenes out.

I remember seeing the trailers and missing the stuff in the movie.

Here is the list of stuff that I wish they wouldn't have cut out:

1. in the teaser trailer they show him in first person jumping from on building to another and running and making his way through the rooftop. Why the hell did they cut this out? actually it was in the movie, but it was A LOT shorter.

2. him actually constructing his web shooters? where the hell was that?? it also blew up in his face at point.

3.the part where he is at gwens place and gwen says her father has a lot of police officers chasing him and peter says that that's a bit excessive.

4.peter in teh spider room in oscorp freaking out because of the spider?

I know there are a lot more and more important ones, but those were the scenes that I liked. Why did they cut out so much?

Will this be available as an extended edition when it comes out on blu ray?

...no I don't think it looks like a koopa

Yeah he has a flat nose but other than that the appearance is totally different. Seriously, enough with the koopa talk

Agreed.

This was one of the most disappointing things in the movie for me. I know that sounds a little over the top, but I was really looking forward to this POV scene with the final effects. It looked so cool! Then the actual POV scene in the movie was this disjointed, badly cutdown scene. It was cut from 30 or so seconds to like, 3 seconds.

All of this was in the movie. Even the shot of it blowing up in his face.

Yeah, this was removed. Didn't really miss it. There was a lot of improv/alternate takes in this movie. There's like 8 different things Spidey says in the carjacker scene, things which were in tv spots, other footage which WEREN'T in the movie.

Again, this was in the movie, but it was from a different angle. It's from when he's shaking off the spiders, this shot was from his side in the movie. The spiders haven't even been added onto the web panel thing yet in that still from the teaser.

Doubt it. I don't see them adding in about 2 minutes of alternate takes. I'd rather see COMPLETELY new deleted scenes.

Because Green Goblin looked nothing like Godzilla, so it was cool with him.

Alright I just thought of something.
When Uncle Ben dies, that's when Peter becomes Spider-Man.
So metaphorically, did Peter die as well?
Is Peter actually Spider-Man trying to act like Peter Parker?
When he takes of the mask, is that when he's in his secret identity?

Damn, that's probably how Nolan would have approached Spider-Man lol

That's what you get for associating with non-comic book people.

Well, if they haven't seen SM1 for a while, it would make sense.

Did anyone notice that Aunt May fell asleep on the couch before Peter went on the path to becoming Spider-Man (after Uncle Ben died)?

I think that was Webb's way of showing that Aunt May was grieving over the death of Uncle Ben, not wanting to sleep in the bed that she and Uncle Ben slept in.

Nice observation. I doubt that it was an intentional symbolism, but inferences like that are pretty cool.

How long do you all reckon it'll stay in theatres? I may just be being paranoid, but I really want to see it one more time, but it might be a few weeks before I get a chance.

movies are usually in theaters for two or there weeks at the very least (some even months) they just decrease in showings. A week or two ago a theater was still playing avengers near me. Though it was only one showing a day

FINALLY got to see it again last night, it was even better, James Horner did a fantastic job on the score now that I finally noticed it. (My first viewing was at midnight so I wasn't at the highest level of awareness...)

I don't like how Captain Stacy found out about Peter, it would've been more meaningful if George died, and Peter just took it upon himself not to see Gwen because of that, instead of a promise.

then that eliminates the bitter sweet ending with Peter and Gwen, and the line about some broken promises being the best ones. It gives the general audience a glimmer of hope for the two, but the fans really know whats up. Love that ending.
