Very nice short, but the rehashed TDK music was distracting and lame. Otherwise, very nice little story. I like the Jane Punisher film, so if he could return to the role or get a show made out of shorts like this, I'd be down. Clearly loves the character, and I highly respect that.

Obviously it's pricey to create a high quality original score but i'm wondering why they chose to use TDK score which is so recognizable.
I almost wonder if they were trying to latch onto TDKR hype. |

I must be the only one who didn't pay attention to the score at all.

Well in an interview some time back Tom Jane was talking about how he wanted a really gritty punisher film and lions gate didn't take it seriously enough and did war zone instead. Jane wanted something like the dark so that could explain the score. I'll see if I can find the interview.

Why did they use the Dark Knight score? Because, he is a dark knight, more importantly, a Marvel Knight. Makes sense to me.

I'm pretty sure they just used that because it fit the beats of the scenes and they had no money to do their own.

Stallone would've made a great Punisher.
I do think Thomas Jane is the best though. |

Haha... like the Mean Joe Green ending. Like the guy said on the first page, that :10 mins was better than all three movies combined.
I really, REALLY hate that everyone thinks this character should be done like an 80's action flick. Taxi Driver, Phone Booth and the original Mechanic should be guides for a Punisher movie. Think smaller budget and smart more than grand scale. There's a depth there thats always missed and the movie always end up with such a sappy tone.

Now that. was. INDEED. awesome!!! Showtime get this on the air soon. Dexter only has 2 more Seasons remaining. They'll be wanting something to take it's place once the show's over.

I've always been an advocate of a Thomas Jane Punisher TV show.I always thought Jane had the best intentions with the character.I'd be all for a show on Showtime or HBO.

Agree, totally Punisher needs to be on HBO kicking ass on a weekly basis. Jane is good but I think alot of other cheaper actors can pull off Punisher as well. Anyone else get a True Blood vibe from the way the blood effects were done? |

The show can be like the Sopranos...except the Punisher kills them all in the first season.

I didn't like Punisher short movie. It's something like direct to DVD. Also TDK soundtrack was stupid choice, even if they don't wanna spend money they could choose not so relevant soundtrack, some free sample or ask for someone to do it for free (After all many amateur or low level composers would like to do it for a movie has Thomas Jane.)
But it's good for hype around the character.

I enjoyed his Punisher movie back in 2004. I watched it again fairly recently and didn't enjoy it quite as much, but I still thought he was great in it. Loved seeing him back in the role and hope something more comes of it. He's a great guy and really loves the character, you can really tell from the short.
Ron Perlman was a fun surprise in the short too, there's another character I'd love to see back, Hellboy. _________________ Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights Last edited by Bubbawheat; 08-11-2012 at 09:28 PM. |

Great short film, he obviously still loves being that character.
Although the music was lifted from TDK it fit the scene, and its a great piece anyway!!

I don't understand why they want to ground the Punisher. Punisher: War Zone was the best thing they could have done with the character. I loved it.
As for the score, as someone who saw TDK a zillion times I recognized it immediately...definitely should have went for something more generic. |
