She should hook up with both Cap and Bucky. Now that would be classic.

I'm sure she will, in the inevitable XXX porn parody of this movie.

I'd be fine with this. But they'd need to introduce Mockingbird so that poor Clint isn't left in the dust.

I kind of hope that Winter Soldier is played as the boogie man of the old KGB, and that we get to hear one legend's opinion of the other. then she could have her cameo appearance extend to a brief fight where Bucky can show off his skills and they can beat the crud out of each other. Maybe they just suggest romance between the two at the end when she compliments his good looks or something and he compliments her fighting style.

Another great possibility is that if they go with the route that Black Widow and Bucky knew each other during her earlier Russian Spy/Assasin Days, then this could give opportunity to further explore some of the backstory that was only hinted at in "The Avengers" that I've read a lot of people mentioning that they've been wanting to see on screen.
So there's definitely material for her character to have her own arc and not fall under the same predicament where she's just there just for the sake of being the SHIELD connection in the film, let alone her being just a potential eye candy/love interest for Bucky. |

Very pleased about Natasha's return, but not surprised.

I hate the prevalent contrivances in comics today. It's just getting out of hand.

When you have a world full of superhumans but superhumans are still considered super, contrivances can't be avoided.

I think the connection was hinted at in Avengers. When Hawkeye is saying to her "Do you know what it's like to have someone else in your brain, picking at it?" and she says "You know that I do"
That strikes me as vaguely similar to Winter Soldier. |

Sounds similar to how BW and WS have described as the Russian way of programming their operatives in the comics. I have a feeling we may see or hear how the Russians do it in the movie.

Is the population of the world truly that small?

Hmm I think it just means that she, like Bucky, had her mind manipulated.

Apparently so. I thought I had a point, but you're right, there's no reason for high profile characters to have sudden backstory connections. It's one thing to accidentally run into a superhuman, since, statistically, they should be more likely to be involved in superhuman affairs, but for it to so happen that, I dunno, Tony's father helped create Captain America, that's a bit contrived.
