Now that Nolans trilogy is finished, does anyone want or wish to see some of his characters via comics. For instant maybe his version of Bane or John Blake, possible even a more prominant role for Lucius Fox?

I wouldn't mind seeing Bane take up the social upheaval mantle from the films. And with Lucius Fox, I think the recent Batman: Earth One book has taken some cues from the film in how it is portraying Fox. As for Blake, I think the comics are handling his counterpart just fine.

I would love seeing Nolans Bane in a new arc soon. The new 52 Bane so far has been exactly like the one from the Arkham games so its been kind of a dissapointment

I'd rather that the bat-writers see Nolan's Bane as an example that the character isn't a shallow 90s creature (a sentiment Paul Dini and Grant Morrison seem to share.) and get inspired to use him a bit more, not necessarily take traits from that particular version.

Nolan's bane worked for me in the film, only because of nolans realism element.
As a comic book character, not a chance. Bane is an amazing villain. Go along the lines of JL oom, I think they portrayed bane well physically in that film.

Heh, as long as they don't make him too soft and clueless like Simone did.

Last year when we had just learned of the Batman is 8 years missing plot point, I thought that was a great opportunity for a wealth of Nolan-verse centric stories to be told in that gap. But, as we learned in the film Batman wasn't actively during that time .
Personally, I'd love to see some of the Nolan adaptations continued on.

I would love some sort of continuation, since I really loved Nolans version of the story and the characters, but there is no story left to tell really.
What I would love would be a ongoing series, that would be inspired by the gritty realism take of Nolan, that sets Batman in a world like that, with no other heroes, where he takes on threats that would fit the Nolan mold. I know that theres Earth One, but I don't like it and I its not what I mean. Didn't like that book that much. Also, I would love to see a comic where you see Bruce's training and world traveling mixed with a few adventures, like the first 40 minutes of Begins, but as a 12 issue series, or something like that. I mean, the movies shouldn't be the only place to see that period fleshed out. As for Nolans take on Bane: I really hope that the success of the movie inspires the comics to take him seriously again. Its such a shame that he hasn't been a real threat since Knightfall or No Mans Land. I also would love to see echoes of the Nolan design make its way into the comics, since its really much cooler than the original version, to be honest. I always loved the idea of Bane, but he always looked stupid and was never written as good as he was in Rises. Yeah, I love Secret Six as well, I am re-reading the whole series at the moment, but to be honest, he isn't written THAT cool here either. He is often played for laughs with his relationship to Vandal Savage, which is funny but not the Bane I want ("You can choose one sort of ice cream, Scandal savage. One." or "Its your bedtime, Scandal Savage. Lay your head on my lap, now."). It doesn't play well with the whole master tactician thing as he comes across as not as smart as he should be. I like the whole taking care of somebody thing, since Nolan used that as well, but in a more earnest way. Sure, he has the most cool moments of his comics career in that run, but he is still not as cool as Nolan made him. In the movie, he was utterly terrifying and scary. Much more scary than the Joker in my eyes. Thats the Bane I want to see. He has to be Batman's most formidable enemy, or he doesn't work. So, yeah, I would love it if the comics would take inspiration from that. I doubt it, since they ruined him even more in the new 52 reboot, but hope shines bright. |

Ever since I saw TDKR, I've started to realize how much more human Nolan's Bat is (thus I'm fine with how Nolan ended the series) and I think Rachel's presence in Bruce's life was a key thing for this. I don't think the more driven Bats in the comics needs someone like her, especially when he's had better love interests. |

The problem with adapting characters from other media is, more often than not, they really don't resemble closely enough the characters we loved from that media. John Blake is a prime example of that if they tried, he would mainly resemble the movie character in name only. Other characters already fill the roles he was intended for

I think the Nolanverse already inspired nowadays Comic Joker. He's not sporting that elegant gangster look anymore (which I loved) but looking more like a complete psycho punk.
To be honest I don't want any of Nolan's versions in the comics. It was his version of the Batman universe, it worked for his films, but that's it. And regarding Lucius Fox: Comic Batman does not need a Q. He does all his gadgets by himself which is much cooler IMHO.

Agreed. Though I liked the Nolanverse I hope they give us this "more driven Bats" in the reboot.

I wouldn't mind if they incorporated Gordon comforting Bruce as a child.

Would be a redundant thing.
There's already Leslie Thom(p)kins for that part, so you would have to turn her back into the elderly women who doesn't know who Batman is. But who the **** knows what continuity is these days.

I'd like to see Nolan's universe continue in comic-form if they don't continue it with the film series. Like someone said earlier, there was an 8-year gap where Batman wasn't seen in public, but that don't mean he didn't do some crime fighting privately without Gordon. Maybe a few months after the events of TDK? THEN he retires until TDKR?

I don't know. I mean, there's some stuff that I liked that could fit. Some stuff that wouldn't.
Lucius being in the loop is still something I think works. I think he's been a character in the Batman universe for long enough, and Bruce can always trust him. Even if he's a the same age as Bruce or an older version, that seems like something that could transition well. I know that Bane at one point was brought in by Ra's, but I don't know if he was ever a member of the League. Him being a formerly trained member sounds like a nice addition to me. As far as I know, Jim Gordon being a beat cop and comforting Bruce on the night of his parents death is in continuity, isn't it? Or maybe not. Things seem to get kinda weird with Jim's past after Year One since he sometimes was a Gotham transplant, and not a native. |
