Yes, she was. When her name surfaced, I realized for the first time that they weren't necessarily eyeing a WASP actress for the role of Sue.

2 weeks later, Jessica Alba was announced for the role.

Those were actually good times, when I believe the Hype was at its best. We had such epic thread battles with Herr Logan, Wet Gorilla, and many others. The board was running amuck with trolls and fans alike and every day somebody's internet blood was being drawn. Of course, I was on the wrong side of history then, but it made for great popcorn-crunching and speedy keyboard typing nonetheless.

I hink the thing that bothered me is that there were real, live people putting in long hours and doing their best to bring the best product they could to the screen - and some of those people probably read these boards.

I don't think there's ever justification for the kind of anger and nastiness that some people spouted. If you don't like a film... or a car... or a shoe, move on and find one you do like. Don't devote your life to insulting the hard work of others.

I disagree to a point. See when it comes down to Marvel Films, Fan-People wait all their lives to see their favorite Superheros come alive on the big screen. In those days before the MCU, studios didn't share the same importance in writing, producing and presenting a product that gives respect to the fans and GA alike. So you can't just "Move on" to another FF film cause that's the only FF film your gonna get. And if that's your favorite comic book why can't you show your displeasure any way you want. FF and FFROTSS were as a whole bad products. And that's it?? These Marvel Character monopolies that these studios have over these characters bring a certain amount of nervousness especially the only studios who have completely done it's Marvel characters right is the parent company. Marvel Studios. So respect the product and not the work. They got paid whether their work was good or bad. The fans got what they got and I quote from Full Metal Jacket "Got *****ed without the common courtesy of a reach around"

I agree to an extent. I think it's wrong to villify the actors on the FF film because all of them clearly did their best considering what they were given. But "what they were given" is the operative statement there. For example, I became a huge fan of Jessica due to her involvement with F4--even though I was originally against her casting. One cannot hold her responsible for the bad lines she was given, or the terrible make-up job in the sequel (why they didn't just bring back her more natural look from FF1 still boggles my mind to this day). She shouldn't have been cast for the role, but it's not her fault--that falls at the feet of Tim Story and others behind the scenes. They hired her for her beauty, talent, "it-status" and adeptness at action sequences, etc. But she did not physically look like Sue Storm. Hell, she and Chris didn't even look believable as siblings. Ultimately FOX is responsible for what we see--or don't see--on screen...not the actors.

So if the writers, producers and other hacks who said "To hell with continuity and all that made this comic great" read negative on-line comments, so what? I have zero sympathy for them. It's constructive criticism. The people behind The Avengers, or The Dark Knight Rises are getting considerably less vitriol for their contributions. Why?

Because they earned the praise they're getting.

Well, some of those were plants....not Herr Logan he was just an original guy....and I really liked him....I know that some didn't. As far as Wet Gorilla, he was a pure plant/troll and he was never anything less than that....Amerikazmostwanted was just a freak....and I believe AOL took care of him....lol

Although I would like some of the freedom of our posting back that we had in that era...far too much was allowed....and it ended up "only" a place for the fanboy....now I think it is more open for new fans...but I definitely think we have gone too far the other direction.... if someone calls someone an ass, that is truly acting like an ass.....it is very hard for me to give an infraction.....lol

I was waiting since roughly 1969 for an FF film and when I saw things I didn't like - like the Thing, my all time favorite character of any sort, without his brow - I expressed my frustration and disappointment.

But I like to think that I did so in a calm and respectful way, and I didn't insult those that disagreed with me. Many on these boards went over the top, IMHO and I think it's a lot easier to say: "THAT SUCKS" than it is to actually create something that doesn't suck.

Yes, you were "one of the good ones" we never had a problem with Willie. If Mods could clone you...

Perhaps we'll all get our wishes fulfilled with this reboot--Thing Brow included.

Let's just hope this isn't a false start so we can have some more moments like that.

I think our smilies are a lot better than they were in those days, so maybe that will help prevent a tongue-in-cheek post from being seen as a slam.

I hope so.....although I don't think any of Wet Gorilla's posts were tongue-in-cheek.....and Herr Logan was awesome to talk to privately....he was totally different than on the hype. It was so strange....he said a lot of it was simply his persona on the hype.

I thought the "Alba needs to die" threads were hysterical.....that is the main reason why I came on as "Albafan".....just to stir things up some more.....lol

Yep...from 2004 toooooooooooooo 2008????? I can't remember when I changed it to Kel....I had to change it to The Albafan because a freak signed up on a lot of FF affiliated sites and treated people horrible...so I had it changed....then they signed up as that name here...and they had to ban it, so I couldn't change back to it once they were gone. No biggie....I like being known by MY NAME.... : )

Lots of movie deals get signed or announced and movies never materialize. Fantastic Four and Daredevil are clearly not high priorities for Fox right now anyway.
