I am hoping for Colossus In future sequenze. We may get 1 or 2 new characters In small roles In future sequenze but reason they are doing Days of future past Is to Include characters from First Class and earlier films In same film. They aren't going to lose opportunity to get attention by having actors from earlyier films In days of future Past. |

marvelrobbins, you seem sooo sure that they'd do that prologue thing and then all the plot set in the past, lol
its a possibility, definetly, but there are many ways to tell this story

My guess is the time traveler will be Bishop.

In trailers and TV spots. It's defently something I can see Vaughn and Singer wanting to do. And I disagree on Bishop as time traveler.I don't see them wanting to miss opportunity to bridge X-Men and First Class castsBesides the days of Bishop being a popular character are long since done. You want the X-Men films to compete with Marvel studios Avengers films?Days of future past and bridging casts allows that. |

I personally dont want X-men trying to compete with Avengers at all.
I want great character development, specially for the x-men team and Charles, and bigger action sequences, but not exactly bringing action each 10 minutes like Avengers. I want a more mature, epic, dark and dramatic movie/sequel.

But I heard on these boards how people want everything to be like the Avengers.
More seriously I don't think you have to worry about drama and character devolpment. I am expecting Vaughn to keep the action sequenzes mostly confined to 2 sequenze. In the future and showdown between X-men VS Brotherhood. There might be a couple of small action movements. For me the big action moments In First Class were Hellfire masacure at CIA babe and showdown In Cuba ending In Xavier and Magneto confination. Vaughn should still bring some Bond elements though In the 60's timeframe but there should be plenty of drama. There should be further devolpment of Xavier,Magneto,Mystique, and Beast.X-Men always deals with mature,Dark, and dramatic themes. Some now has called Singer's X-Men films too serious.I like their tone. Vaughn has already proved he can do serious themes and have lighter moments too.Sentinles In days of future Past show how the racism towards mutants comes back and bites the racists In the butt.If handled right Days of uture past can be one of the most epic and dramatic comic book films ever.and It helps when villains are actully characters Instead of generic cannon fodder.Of course I mean the Brotherhood when they are planning an assassination. |

But I doudt there will be any mystery to the time traveler. There Is going to be a high chance of starting in future till the time travler goes back In time with when the traveler has to convince the X-Men of first Class time of the danger and Xavier could find more Information by reading mind of traveler.

I guess I'm just assuming that since this is a sequel to a movie about X and Magneto, the timeline will stay from their perspective.
Whereas starting the movie off with some action scenes in the future, instead of letting that story be told later in the film, frames the film as being from the traveler's perspective |

I really don't see why the film would start in the future. This is a FIRST CLASS sequel, after all.

You want the give some time to actors from earlier films.Doing a quick flash of Images when Xavier reads mind of time traveler doesn't provide the same Impact of seeing
actors from earlier films In a 15 to 20 minute prologue.I am hoping to see Ian Mckellan In Internment camp to show the drama of despite all his efforts he has ended back to where he was as a boy. Plus doing the future sequenze first means you can focus on drama and character till the X-Men and Brotherhood showdown. |

It doesn't have to be a quick flash. Nor does Xavier have to read his mind. Have the time traveler tell their story, and show while they narrate.
A 20 minute intro? Featuring presumably only one of the characters the movie will actually be about? That's a great first step toward a horribly unfocused film. |

Why does it have to be a prologue? That takes away all the impact...

by starting with future sequenze you can show a tiny bit In camp, show an escape and battle with sentinles while the time travel plan Is undertaken.with Bryan Singer as fan
of Star Trek and considering first Class was Influenced by Star Trek(2009) I was thinking an opening like Star Trek Generations. The time traveler telling the story might not allow actors from earlier films to have dialogue. |

You want to make use of characters the general audence knows. And I doudt Fox Isn't going to want to use original trilogy actors In promation for film.
And I don't know rather an extended flashback/flashforward sequenze In middle of film would work. Most Time travel stories start In timeframe of when the travel comes to. |

But it's silly to use these characters in a prologue to the film and then never see them again.

One character would be seen going through time.I am fairly convinced the time traveler will be character from earlier films.I just can't see them missing the opportunity to
cross casts.which would help make this an event film. could an entended flashback/Flashforward In middle of film work?Yeah but It depends how It would be done and how it was structed. Doing a couple of minutes like In Star Trek Mind meld would be disservce.Doing a narration over action would miss opportunity. To do flashback/flashforward the only way It would work Is time traveler tells first Class era Xavier and X-Men about the event the Brotherhood Is about to do and then cut to future starting with suruvung mutants in camp and edning with time traveler sent back In time. Apart from Lauren Schueller Donner's Intrest In doing the storyline and opportunity to Include some of Bryan Singer's X4 Ideas. |

i highly doubt Wolverine will be in this movie, by the time this movie starts filming, Hugh will be shooting his solo movie, or taking a break from the Wolverine character. If they do decide to use pre-existing actors from the '00-'06 triloy, they may just have a cameo, or they may not use any of those actors because it might be to expensive.
I can see Forge(cameo), Bishop, Shard, or probably Cable going back in time to prevent the X-Men's and the worlds fate. The idea of the X-men growing and changing is a theme to explore, that Xavier's dream will extend to the near future, whoever those future team membrs are. |

They aren't doing days of future Past and not Including any actors from original films. They are doing Days of future Past to do a event film.
The Wolverine will wrap In December/january.Days of future Past Is tentavly expected to go Into production In January.Simon Kinberg hinted It could be spring till filming begins. Bishop nor Cable have any benefet being used.Neither one has any connection the general audence Is aware of.Both characters haven't been popular In years. Both have a very convorlated historyBoth characters would laregly be a gun shooting character. For Bishop there Isn't a lot of energy weapons In 1960's.What's going to create more excitemnet for this film? having character from earlier film or character unknown to general audence. |

Have Beast travel back to the 1960s on a mission to prevent an assassination (have JFK's assassination as just one on a list of many). Having an older Beast who has UN Ambassador who has seen the horrors of the future meet his younger self could make for some interesting scenes but also keep the film focused on the First Class cast and not upstaged by the 2000s cast. Have just one scene with the future.
The X-Men succeed and Beast returns to the future to see that nothing has really changed. This would spinoff into a final Wolverine film that is set in the future, do an end credits scene to tease this. Allow for a third "First Class" film. 2013 The Wolverine 2014 X-Men: Days of Future Past 2016 Wolverine: Enemy of the State 2017 3rd X-Men: First Class film 2020 X-Men / Fantastic Four Team-Up Film

now what? just how are they going to justify the future jump scenario? Will this involve "kate pryde" as an adult going into the past 1960s from the 1980s? we'll see..
will they actually show sentinel robots? Nimrod? |

I think that if you start the film with a prologue set in the future and introduce a character who goes back into the past on a mission, it will then be hard to bring the focus back to the First Class characters. Simply because it's that character who really has everything at stake and whose actions have the most urgency - to the rest of the team it's all just a distant theoretical future, they didn't live through it. They'd just end up kinda like helpers to the time traveller.
I can't see the point of making a 20-minute prologue about the characters from the original series and leaving it just at that. You can do a multi-character, Avengers-style sequel or you can have a sequel focused on FC characters, but this prologue stuff is neither here nor there. You'd be introducing the characters that the audience is excited to see again and then you just sort of leave them hanging there. And for all this talk of bridging casts - is there really a "bridge" when, apart from the time traveller, the casts would be in isolation from each other since they're in different time periods? Yes you can cross-cut and all but there is no real connection there. It's like doing an Avengers movie where one half of the characters never meets another. |

I agree. If this is to be a First Class sequel, it has to begin in the 60s with the characters from First Class.
