• Iron Fist, fast, agile, with a fist that can break anything and do ranged attacks
• White Tiger, same as IF, only claws instead of Iron Fists

• All together with Power Man, against P3 for more than one minute having a hard time taking him down? All of them against Glue Gun Guy? UGH

Yeah that's what it seems like. Harry Osborn is Venom in this toon while Eddie Brock was the first Venom in most of the other media.

It's been renewed for a second season, so it's not getting cancelled anytime soon.

I know I read on Greg Weissman's site [can't remember the name of the website] that it was because Marvel got back the tv rights to Spider-Man, so even if they wanted to continue TSSM, they couldn't because of certain rights issues, so they would have had to pay Sony to continue it. I'm paraphrasing here, so I don't remember exactly what he said.

Marvel DIDN'T cancel it. It's all very complicated, and we were certainly the recipients of bad corporate luck, but no single company cancelled the series. We just wound up with a situation where no single company could proceed with it. I'll try to break it all down:


1. Sony had originally produced SpecSpidey as part of their overall entertainment license of the Spidey property (which of course included the extremely lucrative live action films).

2. But in order to win some concession on those live action feature films, Sony returned the animation rights to the character back to Marvel.

3. So now only Marvel could produce a Spider-Man cartoon. Sony no longer could, which meant SpecSpidey couldn't continue at Sony.

4. I have no idea whether Marvel was interested in continuing Spectacular Spider-Man or not. But let's assume for the sake of argument that they would have liked to.

5. They couldn't.

6. Why? Because Sony owned all the specific elements (designs, storyline, etc.) to the SpecSpidey VERSION of Spider-Man. So Marvel would have had to license all that BACK from Sony.

7. You can imagine how unlikely THAT scenario was. Marvel finally gets the rights back to do an animated version of their marquee character, and then they have to pay Sony to do it instead of just starting from scratch. That was never going to happen.

8. Of course, all this was complicated by the fact that Disney purchased Marvel, and Disney and Sony are direct competitors.

9. And I'm sure Marvel was excited to put their own stamp on an animated Spider-Man. Who could blame them?

10. So that was it. We were toast through no fault of our own. The folks at Marvel, Sony and even Disney all seemed to like our show, but the corporate mess made it impossible for us to continue.

11. And, yes, it is a bummer. (For me, at least.) But it's no single person or single company's fault. It's just how things shook out.

12. And finally, though I have no involvement with the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man, you can't deny that a lot of great people have worked on it. There's no reason to think it won't be as good or better than SpecSpidey. To a certain generation, SpecSpidey will always be THEIR Spider-Man cartoon. But to a new batch o' viewers, I'm sure their Spidey of choice will be the Ultimate.

You're half right. From the very beginning DISNEY XD had ordered 52 episodes of USM (2 seasons of 26 episodes each). They did the same thing with AVENGERS:EMH.

As for today's episode with the Sandman, I thought that this episode was pretty damn good and was probably one of the best episodes of the entire series (so far). A lot of people online were complaining about Sandy being made into a little boy in this show after seeing one clip, but if they paid closer attention to the preview commercials for the episode they would have seen an older (either an adult or teenage) version of Sandy. And then there's the little fact that he was still being called "Sandman" and not "sandboy" in the promo. This episode is a perfect example of how to do a perfect blend of action and comedy.

Every week the show is improving, today's episode was another good one.

The show is getting better indeed. And Sandman turned out to be pretty cool. The age thing was unnecessary, but was explained; and it gave him a creepy edge. The visuals of his attacks were pretty cool too.

Overall, I enjoy the show. Not as much as Avengers unfortunately, but it's still worth watching.

Managed to catch up with a few episodes the other day, as they hadn't been on the usual site I use. I'm still having a good time watching this show! Still like the different take, but at times I do wish they would cut down on the cutaways. Nothing wrong with Spidey humour though, just a little problematic when it interferes with the action.

Can't wait for the rest of Season 1, and Season 2 - again, I may be in the minority of the show's fans lol

I just watched it and man I am tired............. I think I am going to take a long break from the series and catch up later when the season is over.

Maybe I need to be stoned to continue, but I have other things to do.

I am still going to watch avengers every week, I think this break will be very good for me.

Ultimate Spider-Man climbs to record ratings as Marvel Universe launched on TV

NEW animated series Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man has climbed to record ratings on Disney XD UK.


The show launched in the UK on May 31, 2012, and became the top-rated animated title on the channel, reaching an audience of 1.2 million including 683,000 children aged 4 to 15 and 265,000 boys aged 8 to12 in its first six weeks on air.

The premiere episode of Ultimate Spider-Man was the best performing show in its timeslot with boys aged 8 to 12 on any kids TV channel in the UK, including those available in twice as many homes.


Over the first six weeks, the series also boosted year-on-year Disney XD ratings for its timeslot by 77 per cent.


"The success of Ultimate Spider-Man demonstrates the demand for Marvel content from a new generation," said Boel Ferguson, general manager of Disney Channels UK & Ireland.


"Following the incredible success of Marvel's Avengers Assemble in theatres across the UK we wanted to give our viewers a go-to TV destination for more excitement and energy of the latest Marvel series like Ultimate Spider-Man.


"Beginning today, August 17, Marvel Universe will become the TV home for everyone's favorite superheroes."

Marvel Universe, a programming block airing every Friday at 3.30pm on Disney XD, will feature popular heroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk and Spider-Man.


The Disney XD block will be home to all of Marvel's action-packed animated series including Ultimate Spider-Man, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Iron Man: Armored Adventures.


The success of Spider-Man on TV screens has been mirrored by the success of the franchise across UK retailers, with both Argos and Tesco having included the Web Shooting Spider-Man action figure from Hasbro in their top Christmas recommendations.

Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man is guided by a top creative team including Marvel's chief creative officer Joe Quesada, Marvel's EVP - head of television Jeph Loeb, supervising producer Man of Action Studios (Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, Steven T. Seagle & Duncan Rouleau), creative consultant/writer Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series, Lost), and consulting producer/writer Brian Michael Bendis (Ultimate Spider-Man comic series).


In the storyline, a teenage Peter Parker (voiced by actor Drake Bell) juggles the relatable challenges of high school with the extraordinary challenges of being a superhero.


Nick Fury (voiced by actor Chi McBride) invites Parker to train with his S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, where Peter's alter-ego Spider-Man will join forces with four other teenage heroes - Nova, White Tiger, Power Man and Iron Fist, on the greatest adventure ever as they work to become ultimate superheroes.
