so how does differ from the directors cut? is it just the addition of the BF or are there extra scenes as well not on prior releases.

The DC was finally released here in the UK, watched it last night and thought it was amazing, the new scene's added a lot to the movie for me, and no one is going to complaint about more Rorschach now are they!
Brilliant DC which is now right up there with the likes of TDK and X2 for me.

I traded in my DVD copy of the Director's Cut and Black Freight to get this. I got this in the mail yesterday and just finished watching it a few minutes ago. I have to say, although I like the Watchmen movie, this movie is definitely a chore to sit through...especially now since Black Freighter is integrated does it feel every minute of it's length. Length aside, I think this version was probably the best. The Black Freighter cut scenes definitely felt refreshing. Although, at some points it felt completely jarring and out of place. It's nice to have everything together in one box set, too. All in all, I felt it was worth the $25 I paid.

The "ultimate cut" made a long and boring movie, even longer and more boring. Kind of like LOTR.

okay u have the dc. well i think u'd probably would be more attuned to keep it unless ur interested in having commentary and Black Freighter incorporated into the film. me, I received The Ultimate Cut as a christmas gift cause I had waited thru all the previous releases knowing this release would come down the road.
also what's the point of the digital copies anyway? it's a waste of space i think. i dont have a computer that i can put the digital copy on. so what am i gonna do, probably ditch the disc and pick up a cheap copy of the theatrical version of watchmen to have both copies of it. cause there'll be times where i'll probably wanna watch the theatrical and times where i'll wanna watch The Ultimate Cut with Black Freighter in. |

I think the DC makes and very good movie into an excellent one personally, not sure that the Ultimate Cut will do that, so I am not sure about getting it yet. Of course, it probably wont be out here in the UK for another 6 months, but I already own the TC and DC, so not sure if I would want to add the UC yet.

I have a feeling I might end up buying both the Directors Cut an the Ultimate Cut sadly. I feel like I need to own the Ultimate Cut but I imagine sometimes I just wanna see the movie without it feeling like a total chore

The Director's Cut flows a little better, and feels more complete than the Theatrical Cut...the Ultimate Cut has the Black Freighter stuff in it, wasn't as impressed with that version.

The Ultimate Cut sucked big time. The integration of "Black Freighter" interrupted the movie in a bad way, it did not fit at all, it always took me out of the story. I found that in the Graphic Novel annoying and stupid already. It might have been a genius move by Alan Moore, I for one just did not like it.

I skimmed Black Freighter parts in the graphic novel. I think BF is better standalone as the animated film. The Director's Cut is my fave.

If the Black Freighter part had been filmed live-action in chroma key (ala 300) like what was originally suggested for it, it would have been great, but as it was it not only jarring due to being animated, but also poorly animated, it's better without it.
I do defend its inclusion in the original graphic novel, though, on the basis that it is important to the theme of the novel (and is basically an allegory for Cold War hysteria as a whole and also one for Ozymandias' story arc--like the main character of the Black Freighter, he is damned). |

That giant box looks either faked for this promo or an incredibly bad idea, as it looks terrible.

So with this one we get the Ultimate Cut, Director's Cut and the Theatrical Cut? Not bad.

I think the Director's and Theatrical cuts are just on DVD, though, not Blu-Ray. So only the Ultimate Cut is a Blu-ray disc.
