Slayers Next; I love how loose cannon Lina Inverse is with her sorcery.

Sgt Frog!! Love it.
![]() Currently trying to find a new anime besides that. I freaking hate fan service..it's annoying and stupid. (i'm talking giant boobs and upskirts fan service) The ones i've seen that have little to none of that have been some of the best anime i've ever seen.

Watch Hunter x Hunter (the 2011 series). That has little to no fan service. In fact there's only one moment in the entire series that I can recall goes there and it's not even overt but rather implied.

More recommendations:
Shiki - Sort of the anime version of Salem's Lot, but more interesting. Mnemosyne - quite adult in terms of the sex and violence/gore, but an interesting premise and approach to immortality in general.

the only ones I really watch are Deadman Wonderland and Cashern Sins ever since Toonami came back. They're surprisingly good shows.

Yeah, Hellsing is pretty excellent.
Just watched: Shangri-La ep 1.

Was it the fanservice? So far that hasn't gotten too much on my nerves.

No...it was just that I never got to it, strangely. Maybe I just wasn't in the right place to concentrate on it or get into its vibe for whatever reason. Other times, I might watch an entire series through the night.

After a bit of a break and never having the time to watch anything i finally got around to finishing Ergo Proxy. A bit disappointing tbh. The series started out fantastic, part Blade Runner part the Matrix, and then it took a wild twist when they left Romdo to the post-apocalyptic setting which i actually really liked. But it took a massive dive when they were travelling to Mosc, a lot of those episodes could have been cut. For me it dragged on too long, and ultimately seemed a waste of time when they practically return to Romdo almost straight away. It picked way back up once they finally reached Romdo again, but by then there was only a few episodes left. Somewhat confusing ending too, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Only just getting my head around it lol.
I absolutely enjoyed the series, it just needs a bit of trimming in the middle. |

I watched the Critic/anime lady's review of Digimon: the Movie. I knew it was a mess when I was a kid, but 3 movies cut into 1?
The Augumon in the first segment scared me when I was a kid. Augumon and Greymon were good guys, not indescriminant killing machines. I wasn't hard for me to imagine people dying offscreen from the collateral damage of the fight with that parrot Digimon.

Origin - Spirits of the Past.
I ignored this film ever since it was first released years ago but finally gave it a try after seeing a trailer. Pretty bloody good! I imagine this is what we'd get if Ghibli ever made a Final Fantasy. |

I watched this series a few months ago. The first five episodes show potential, with the whole aspect of Thor surviving in this harsh environment.
However, it completely ruins that and kills any involment I had with the show by doing a time skip, right in the middle of the show(!!!), right as I'm becoming invested in this character, and turns it into a cliche soap opera. The rest of the show is then rushed to an unsatisfying conclusion, which I will not spoil, completely destroying any cares I had for it to begin with. If it had a whole lot more episodes to develop its concept and characters, it could have good, maybe even great. But, as it stands, it definitely deserves a pass from me.

Well at least I'm forwarned now.
I've just seen Brave Story. Fantastic movie but similarly there's a time jump/montage in the middle which was a bit detrimental to the story. It deserved being a short mini-series instead of a movie to flesh those bits out. |

Time jumps are a dangerous thing in stories. You can have one of the best stories going on to a certain point, but an improperly placed time jump can ruin it if not done properly. Unless there's enough episodes or running time to develop characters, plot points and storyline threads, and enough time to become invested in everything that's going on, time jumps should not even be attempted.

Definitely. I remember shouting at the tv when Battlestar Galactica did it, but as soon as season 3 got going it was perfectly fine.

Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas
I've been suspicious of spin-offs my entire life but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this series. |
