Well I predicted this when Romney was campaigning in Wisconsin. I think Ryan should help in alot of those Midwestern states(Wisc, Iowa, Mich and Ohio) but could be a negative in Florida.
I will say that one positive for Ryan is he has sort of kept his head above the 3 ring circus atmosphere of the Republican party for the last couple years so that might help with independent voters. Ryan is also very personable so not sure if that is a positive(it counters a Romney weakness) or a negative(will he overshadow Romney) |

Privatising Ryan's' vision for America
One of the things he wants to do is privatize medicaid and medicare which is a huge Federal expense. I'm all in favor of some sort of reform, but who would he give it control to, a corporate insurance firm that is against Obamacare and would simply run it to make a profit for a bunch and would be a worse burden on the American people than anything Obama went into office with. I hope they don't plan on letting have two major corporations have control over half the patients for medical insurance in the US. His major corporate pharmaceutical and insurance donors would be thrilled by that prospect and have a field day manipulating costs much more than they did before Obamacare. On the other hand if he does want to privatize something that is in need of deep reform, let AMTRAK go to someone who wants to run it. |

Since a lot of people are spazzing out about Paul Ryan. Instead of telling them they are overreacting, I will pour gasoline
So without further ado I post this article to start a PANAC3 MOD3 up Dick Cheney Was Nothing: Why Paul Ryan Would Be the Most Powerful V.P. Ever

"I worship the ground Paul Ryan walks on"
- Dick Cheney "I have long supported Paul Ryan’s fiscal and entitlement reforms to return our country back on a path of fiscal health. At a time when our country is at an economic crossroads, Congressman Ryan’s depth of knowledge on how to tackle these challenges is unparalleled. In addition to Congressman Ryan’s stellar fiscal conservative positions, he is indeed a full-spectrum conservative. He is solidly pro-life, pro-family, and will be an advocate for our military and our national security priorities." - Rick Santorum Are we PANAC3iNg yet bros?

Well, at least he's cute.
![]() After he was revealed as Romney's VP pick, according to Google, the most common search term tied to Ryan was “vice president”. The second most common was...not his policies. Nope. The term “shirtless” trumped all others. ![]() So, rather than engage in a deep examination of Ryan’s policies and what he would do if he was elected to be the second most powerful person in the country, people wanted to see what he looked like with his shirt off. Ah, America. Oh, and yes I know it's a goddamn manip!

As I said in the Republican thread, I cannot fathom why Mitt Romney chose him. He's in a special group of absolutely hated and despised politicians that are incredibly polarizing and cause almost visceral dislike in basically all liberals and many independents. Romney might as well have asked Scott Walker to be his running mate or announced that Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and John Boehner will all have top cabinet positions if he's elected.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, Dick Cheney is the perfect example to bring up to people who go, "Well, the VP really has no power." I just lived through Dick Cheney basically running White House policy for nearly 8 years. I have no doubt that if elected Paul Ryan and his policies will be running the show. He was basically picked to make Romney palatable to the far right--Romney will have to continue to kowtow to the far right if he wants to get reelected, and that means allowing Paul Ryan vast rein in creating policy. |

wrong. 51 added to 49 is 100. Not happening, Johnson will break at least 1%. Hell, #GaryJohnsonSays trended a bit on twitter today. Two twitter bombs in a row for GJ2012 that he has trended on. He has 1M+ Google+ circles, 56K+ Twitter followers, and 201K Facebook likes. Debates or no debates he is getting 1%. Polls were be shocked on Election day. 2 Media Buys are set to happen, two tv ads via Freedom and Liberty Pac and radio buys happening soon via GJ2012.

Yeah, I hate this lesser of two evils **** and I am voting for Gary Johnson, but with him likely not being in the debates he won't win. So while I vote for him and think he'll surprise people, I hope he costs the lousy GOP to lose.

What makes getting a 2nd term of Obama better than having a Republican ticket who are probably closer, in beliefs and values, to you than Obama is? Just seems like you are spiting the GOP ticket because voters did not elect your guy.

There is only one reason why anyone would vote Romney who is not hot on him.
SCOTUS nominations. Obama could technically replace all the retiring conservative judges with progressive ones, which will change the balance of power for a long time. The Republicans imbeciles wasted all their political capital with Obama and his replacement of progressive judges with new progressive judges. Dumbest strategy ever. They need to be shot in the face for the Palinesque intelligence.

He did try to reshape his image since 2010 and move away from his Objectivist/Randian philosophy when he realized Catholics don't like it. I think we'll all get plenty of reminders in the coming weeks about his past, though. |

It'll be back to the same neoconservative raping and pillaging that the Republicans allowed corporations to do during the Bush administration with lower taxes for the wealthy, the privatization of socialized medicine to huge insurance and pharmaceutical companies, raising taxes on the middle class, pushing back the 2014 withdrawal date from Afghanistan until at least 2016, keeping the terror detention center at Guantamo Bay open, expanded police powers under the Patriot Act, no banking reform even after the 2008 crisis, I can see a massive bailout for the Eurozone once it starts to near the abyss, increases in defense spending, cutting education funding, doing nothing to resolve the jobs crisis and letting the economy take care of itself etc. It will be a nightmare come true.
