I just flipped through the Annual and went "Ugh!". Wake me when this third army business is over.

I refuse to pay $5 for transparent storytelling (please tell me I'm not the only one who realized the other guardians will become the NEW guardians when this wraps up?) when I could spend the money on better comic books. God bless you guys for being able to put up with mediocrity without a hitch but I know how to pick my battles.
He didn't even have the courtesy of showing the first lantern in his full glory after building it up for over a year because decompression rules and it's better to leave that revelation for something that will come out next year instead.

So? You still went into Sinestro Corps War knowing it would end with Sinestro getting his ass whooped. Just because odds are good the Gobbits (Guardian Hobbits) will step up you don't know when, how, and why. Coupled with the fact it's not mediocre.
And in the case of the First Lantern, I think it's logical to leave him unrevealed when leaving him imprisoned is part of the plot. Plus it's the prologue.

It's stupid to compare it to SCW because that was actually FRESH back then. In light of there being event after event ever since that event though these pacing issues the book has now are just old hat. Endless build up with no pay off IS mediocre writing. It's one thing if it was an occasional thing but EVERYTHING Johns has written in GL has been a prologue to something that takes FOREVER to be resolved. **** is downright tiring at this point. I don't regret spending the money on FF or the new Phantom Lady and Dollman mini instead. At least those books knew how to tell a solid tale in one issue while still sowing seeds for the future.

No I'm not I've seen people say MUCH worse about it all on other sites especially GL centric sites. If anything I was far more tolerant than most for the longest but after 5 years of the same **** it's time for me to move on. They'll do just fine without my money.

Any time someone says "you're over reacting" and the other person just restates their opinion for a fourth time with at least three sentences and one curse word, they're overreacting.
![]() I'm not saying you need to read it, or even that you're particularly wrong. But, IMO, it's certainly not bad enough to be worth endlessly *****ing over. That honor should be reserved for things like Jeph Loeb books and Jason Aaron's Hulk.

True but where else would I even express such an opinion but on boards like this? It's not like my girl or most of my friends give a damn what I think about GL. Most of them don't even know WTH Green Lantern even is. On the flipside I caught up with NG recently and find it to be more progressive and better paced than the main GL book right now so I might start picking that one back up.

See this is why I like you Cain, even when ranting, you're still pretty intelligent.
The praise for NG is one thing I still don't understand. I never bought it regularly, but everyone's consistent praise of it has actually caused me to buy all 11 issues here and there...and I'm just not impressed by it. The concept and characters are cool, sure, but I felt as though the plot progression has been extremely slow and even the stories Bedard has chosen to tell have been extremely uninteresting (except for the BBs invading Odym, that was awesome). |

I think the first few issues really weren't all that but Bedard has finally found his stride with the last few issues.
True the Invictus thing was pretty decompressed and took a while to really gain traction. At the same time though I was surprised by how inventive it has become (the idea of a solar system space station is awesome). The character progressions have been surprising yet organic (Saint Walker standing up as a bad ass while not betraying his pacific nature, Arkillo considering him a friend, Sayd's hand being forced etc.) and the pacing and atmosphere are really reminding me a lot of the tone of his awesome R.E.B.E.L.S. series. Shame about Glomulus though

I feel like the actual stories have been much too small and unimportant for the characters and the concept.
With GL, there's always a grandeur to the stories, an epic tone to everything. I do agree, the stories are often trite, but I do feel like most of the recent "events" have had satisfying conclusions - and the in between stories have enough new information and reveals to prove interesting. In all honesty, the worst of Johns' run to me, is still the early issues of his run. Those Manhunter and Killer Shark issues were dreadful compared to what came after. |

^ What? I loved those issues. Mainly because it wasn't always about fighting Ancient Evil threats that somehow involve the Guardians. It was about protecting people in coast city from danger.

That's nice? But it's not just about what the story involves, it's also about how it's told.
I found the plotting and dialogue to be very weak. And the art was very inconsistent early on. |

I feel like those early issues were the weakest, too. On top of the fact that I think Johns didn't really know what he was doing with the title yet, he had the burden of trying to make everybody like Hal Jordan again. So he started with the small, earth-bound human stuff and had to work his way toward the big space stories.

Did the First Lantern's "LET ME OUT!" thing happen in GLC or Red Lanterns too?

I agree that the early GL issues were sorta blah. The Brightest Day era was probably a little worse though (especially the War of the Green Lantern).

I like Brightest Day. I love all the mythology set up with the entities although, they always make it out like Parallax is more powerful or more important than the others. I thought Ophidian and The Predator were ****ing rad. The Butcher too. I've yet to read WotGL though. I really needa start downloading digital comics for real, trades get outrageously expensive if you can't find them on sale especially.

I'm pretty underwhelmed. Tired of seeing the Corps band together to fight hordes if bad guys(Manhunters, zombies, now these Guyver looking mofos). Here's at least hoping the aftermath changes the GL scene somewhat.

I just read the details on the Geoff Johns signing next Friday. The store is making you buy a GL #0 (I was going to anyways, just to be nice) but then they put a two book limit. The ****? I mean I was gonna bring maybe 4 or 5 tops like how comic cons do it. dumb
