I agree, I think their biggest inspiration should be The Last Samurai. Everything in regards to the Samurai was so amazing in that film.

I also hope the actor of the Silver Samurai at least has similar stats to the comic Counter-part. Silver Samurai is 6'6, 250(w/o armor) and I would hope they get someone comparable to encapsulate how physically imposing he is.

Ken Wantabe is such a Typecast but he is so ****ing awesome and he is 6'1

But if they wanna Go Younger and unknown....Takeshi Kaneshiro is An Amazing Actor but sadly only 5'10 which isn't so bad and lifts & camera work could easily fix

Ken Watanabe would be great. Definitely would give Silver Samurai the proper presence. Plus, I like the idea of him as a villain

The Silver Samurai, like most villains, simply isn't a threat, physically, to Wolverine. I already feel sorry for him... All that training and tradition for what? If they change the character to where he can use his power to cut through adamantium then there'd be an element of danger and that, I feel, would improve the movie.

As for the samurai outfit, I remember someone suggesting Wolverine wear his old comic style mask and people got all upset about it. Maybe they should leave costumes to a future reboot.

We get it. You don't like Fox. You have made this point on two sections of this forum now, usually under the assumption that you're the only one who has ever thought this way. Ever. Which you are not.

Armour up or go home. That's my view. The past movies have been so-so at best when it comes to costume, but I think Silver Samurai has to at least look like a close adaptation of his comic counterpart.

Though personally I'm not a fan of him having a Japanese flag emblazoned on his armour like in some of the the pics posted already. I think it detracts from the armour itself and is too comic booky/cartoony and would look less well than it does on page.

I also liked the earlier suggestion by someone that he could also carry the motif in his normal clothing. This would be neat. But above all he has to end up in the armour.

This Thread is just depressing. It's like the theme of the posts on this thread is "Lets not make the character look like he should look".

I wish they would stop altering the costume to look radically different from the comics. Just translate the outfits/comstumes from the comics to the big screen. No more Deadpool repeats!!!

I never got into SS too much. I always wondered though how Wolverine can't just slice through the sword, unless it too was made of adamantium? Which would be pretty awesome...

Personally I think the only way the red sun flag motif might work on Silver Samurai's armour is if they use a similar technique to what they did with Union Jack in Captain America where they work it into the design of the armour itself and it looks more subtle.
