There is one justification for that not happening: most of the rest of them use sharp pointy weapons, excepting Hogun. You wouldn't expect Sif or Fandral to send someone flying with a sword, even if they are strong enough to arm wrestle Tony in his armor.

Haha, I can't claim to love him that much, but his performances in both Thor and Avengers have been absolutely mesmerizing. He's awesome.

The hilt definitely looks like the longer Avengers version. I think they may have just kept that one.

It looks pretty similar, I just can't tell about the pommel.

The pommel seems to be a flat-bottomed, U-shaped piece that doesn't go around the whole bottom of the hilt, leaving two small voids.
