Eilxir disappeared because he knew who/what Hope was. Well considering AVX is in full swing I cannot see the point of using this as an excuse of not bringing him back.

that is not why he disappeared bc he found out in Messiah War and remained for 2 more arcs after that. We already found out who and what Hope is. Elixir is kinda irrelevant to that plot at this point

Elixir disappeared b/c most writers don't like to handle healers

I dont get why they just dont give him limits. Actually the last thign done with him was just that when they had his powers go haywire and he had trouble controlling his death touch as well. That only made him a more viable character as he'd have to be more careful about healing for fear of hurting the person he was trying to help.

I think he did a good job healing people during WWH. Nobody was back on their feet too quickly after getting slapped around by Hulk.

Man, I want an Academy X book back

It's why I resent all the kids in Gen Hope; aside from the fact that I think Hope sucks. They pushed a lot of the Academy X kids into limbo, then gave us that horrible Guggenheim run but want me to read a book about some weird blue girl and a guy named "Velocidad". No sir!

I dont think thats really the case. Gen Hope didnt take away from them. The New X-men kids were without a book like 2 years before Gen Hope started when Young X-men was cancelled. Following that, the only time they were used was in the background of Uncanny and the occasional mini. Pixie, X-23, Elixir and Armor were the only ones that found a permanent home on an ongoing. The rest shuffled around making cameos. Gen Hope launched out of Second Coming but at the same time Legacy turned into a book about Rogue mentoring the younger X-men, effectively giving them a permanent ongoing. The arcs featured in that book revolved around a rotating cast of those characters. Indra never got focus before, but he did there. We saw Loa, Anole, Trance, Hellion, Blindfold, all were utilized and not just as background material. Gen Hope was independent from that and the New X-men were used more after that book launch than in the time frame before it. Outside of Legacy, they were still doing their Uncanny appearanes, starring in minis and making other X-cameos, just like they were doing before

Yeah that's the 1 good thing Carey's done IMO, using the X-kids in Legacy. My point was that I don't want any new kids, I want the old ones back.

This issue was just great. Can Aaron take over and write the X-Men instead?

I love this book. Gambit and X-Treme, too. X-books haven't been this much fun in a long time.

Did they ever show the mutants from Utopia coming back over to Westchester or do we just infer it from the events in AvX?

I really like this book. Yes Wolverine overkill does my head in but this book is just what Uncanny should have been before the move to utopia.

Is this book getting cancelled in the aftermath of AvX? I'm still trying to decide whether or not I should stay with Uncanny only, or start up on this again. And is it an essential read for those currently reading AvX?

Wolverine and the X-Men is sticking around after AvX, however Uncanny X-Men is ending in October and being replaced by All-New X-Men by Brian Michael Bendis. And I would call this book a necessary read for AvX only if you care about more characterization than what we got from the main series.

Thanks for the answer, makes it a little easier now! I read this book up until issue 14 I think, but I had cool down due to money issues, so I stuck with UXM. Now, I might just switch back.
