X-Men: Days of Future Past Speculation

Not saying they're gonna go all out Age of Apocalypse (Too damned expensive). But I have the wildest theory this flick ends with dead (young) Charles and Erick having a change of heart, becoming the new leader of the X-Men.

By doing Days of Future Past (at least their version), its clear they want to get outta their own continuity.

Nah, but it's one of those movie magic things. In universe, McAvoy's Xavier will become Stewarts, despite differences in both look and character, it's inevitable!

Eh...killing young Xavier would mean no James McAvoy in the third film.

not so soon. Michael and James are the pivotal characters of this new era, like Patrick and Ian were on the original trilogy. So forget that idea.

They HAVE to do it like the books. EVERYONE dies in the future but resets in present day.

I don't think they care if James McAvoy doesn't look like a young Patrick Stewart. Its mostly about their acting ability.

That's assuming the Days of Future Past timeline is in continuity with, and post, The Last Stand, which may not be the case at all.

I think everyone on here would acknowledge the contribution of Singer in these films. I didn't like that article at all, though. No new insights, quite badly done to be honest.

I don't think they HAVE to do it exactly like the books at all, there would be no surprises then.

I think we may just see an alternate future that doesn't really address the events of X1-3. But if The Last Stand is still in continuity, what if Xavier (who has no body) sends his mind back in time to his younger self?

I think a good idea is that the future is an alternate timeline, so even if the past x-men avoid the assesination, the future wont be changed.

but that wont help a possible X4 with Cyclops already alive and Xavier, so..... maybe not the best idea, lol

What if it ends with a new timeline, with Jean and Cyclops alive? Actually I'd like it to end with the future unchanged, or slightly changed like on the TV show. Bishop returns to what he thought was the Sentinel future and Forge is like "Sentinels? We have a deadly virus!"

I'll have to acept that we wont see Cyclops and Jean until a third or fourth first class sequel, so I just have to enjoy Wolverine and his friends from the future and the x-men from the past

Oh another idea! What if it's revealed somehow Xavier and Magneto of the original trilogy both knew of the dark Sentinel future and despite coming to some kind of agreement at the end of Days of Future Past, it shows that they still move in their own separate ways fulfilling destiny. Like, Magneto knows his anti-homosapien stuff results in humans trying to kill all mutants but he continues to do it anyway. And Xavier knew of the evils of humans but still tries to make a better future.

I think people need to be a bit realistic about what the point of this film is.

It seems like FOX wants to do something fresher with the superhero genre, and its fun to speculate and wish, but I don't think we should assume they're making this movie to "fix" continuity errors or to bring back Jean and Scott, or to make it so THE LAST STAND never happened. FOX may well feel like they're done with those two characters with a wealth of other X-Men characters that still haven't been explored.

As for Jean and Scott, while we may never see Famke and Marsden again, I'm certain their younger incarnations will appear in a furute First Class film at some point. I think that might be the best case scenario.

People need to be more realstic here.This film Isn't going to be made to rewrite everything and fix contunity holes.Bryan Singer may want to Ignore the Last Stand but eather way what happened In The Last Stand will not be discussed In this film.The X-men characters used In future scenes will be those alive at end of last Stand.With Xavier there Is already
a built In explanation for his return.

Singer's already said they plan with this film to connect the films together.This means we will get a few In future and one traveling back In time.Except for time traveler the rest will be expanded cameos.And people need to be prepared for possibilty wolverine will be time traveler.Opening the same day as third Hobbit means they will almost sure try to get Hugh jackman for a major role In this film.People need to aceept Jackman Is Robert Downey JR of X-Men film franchise.You can do good with him and rest of cast(X-Men,X2) or you can do bad with him and rest of cast(The Last Stand)

The bulk of film will be In first Class era.Any new Characters will be seen In that era.And except for target of assassination attempt I am not excepting much In new characters.
Maybe a new brotherhood member If they don't bring back angel and Riptide.

They are doing this to create a event film and because they want to do the DOFP storyline.Without a doudt they want to create big event having cast members from both first Class and Bryan Singer's X-Men films would create.

I'd have more respect for FOX if they did do the time travel event to create a better more understanable continuity and back story for these characters.

Starting with Juggernaut rightfully being Charles step brother and Mystique not being his little blue pet growing up.

There's way too many little annoyances like that that make FOX-men so hard to except.
