That's why the Target release is a good buy since you get a bonus disc with a 98 minute documentary.

I'm pretty happy with that documentary plus the commentary and deleted scenes and the gag reel. And Item 47 short. I mean yeah there could be more but I mean, what else do you really need? There's no alternate cut.

An in-depth documentary (at least two hours). A cast commentary would be nice. Maybe some more deleted scenes, if any. I know there was a scene planned where Steve visits Peggy Carter, but if it was filmed, they might be saving it for Cap 2.

If Paramount was still quarterbacking these films, the special features would be stacked like they were for the Iron Man 1 and 2.

The deleted scene with Cap in costume throwing his shield at the camera is notably absent from the Blu-Ray...

That Cap/Peggy scene was written but never actually filmed. Whedon cut it out while editing the script during production.

Paramount definitely knows how to give you your money's worth with Blu-ray/DVD features. One thing I noticed while going over the Blu-ray again today is that Disney didn't include the trailers for the movie. Every other MCU movie included the different length trailers. Seems minor but something that is oddly missing.

The target bonus disc has a very in-depth documentary and it's a little under two hours. And look I enjoy those but not every DVD release has a two hour documentary.

To me the bonus documentary is awesome since it starts from the beginning of Phase 1 and goes all the way through Avengers and gives each movie it's own focused segment.

I'm not sure how we could have much more deleted scenes we got 15 minutes worth on this DVD.

I remember being pretty disappointed with what came out for Iron Man since we got no commentary for example. We got commentary this time which is the important thing.

There's a bonus disc at target?

Well that's lame. We don't have target here.

and we don't have a Costco HERE. I'm curious what they have with Avengers stuff. I've seen the one pic posted a couple pages back of their DVD/Bluray.

While I didn't get any steelbooks, the one thing I do like about amazon is they give you money back if the price changes on pre-orders...

...I got a ten dollar refund. woo-hoo...I can put that towards Spider-Man or TDKR

Well actually the rest of the features can be found on the second screen app (Photo Gallery, BTS videos, Concept art, Character Bios, etc...)

The Blu-ray/DVD sales for The Avengers set a new record, as I expected.

Guys, you can look for the Target disc on Blu-ray.

Caped Knight, I mean, that's the second screen app. Those are all cool but I mean at this point a lot of that stuff starts to get a little redundant.

Some more data on the home video sales:

Someone on Box Office forums Blu-Ray thread posted that they're estimating Avengers selling approximately 6 million BRs its first week alone. And that's low-balling it. That number could go as high as 7 million, plus around 2.5 million-3 million in DVD sales.

I can believe it though. I had a couple of friends who hadn't even upgraded to a BR player decide to take the plunge and buy one just so they could own TA in high-def. And with Target/Amazon bringing down the prices of their BR sets, they were going to push a lot units out the doors.

But 6+ million in one week. Dude.

Just.... dude.

Yeah I agree the plain blu ray extras were weak. The movie is great but they really overlooked their behind the scenes stuff. Considering how many bought the plain blu ray I'm sure they will hear alot about how poor the extra footage is.

To call it poor IMHO is a stretch. What is poor to me IMHO are the initial releases for Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Those were poor. Harry Potter release, poor on special features. And Nolan's Batman DVD's also poor on special features.

We got some good stuff here, I'm sure there will be more for later re-issues or the Phase 1 box set or a re-release with the next movie.

i can't speak on those, i don't have those particular blu rays. also they released most of their extras online prior to release of the blu ray. so they really screwed themselves there. we saw some of the deleted scenes, the blooper reel and the alternate opening. sure i didn't have to watch them, so maybe it is my own fault. but i am let down by the regular blu ray extras.

Isn't it possible that scene was filmed specifically for trailers/TV Spots? I mean, don't studios do that all the time while filming is still going on?

Dark Knight was weak not Batman Begins. That had loads of extras. This blu ray was down right pathetic in special features

I don't think it was specifically for the trailers/tv spots. There was an article a month or so ago on "things you never would have guessed" in Avengers (will try to dig it up before I hit submit reply) and basically one of the things mentioned was that during 'the tracking shot' during the final battle (that we all love) the moment that Iron Man swoops down and assists Cap, that's not originally where Cap was, they originally had him off doing something else/fighting alone. I'm thinking that alley shot probably had something to do with where he originally was before they decided to move him back to the viaduct

(digging for article)

Aha! http://io9.com/5940888/weird-secrets...r-have-guessed #3 in "The Other Avengers" section

That shot where he's in the alleyway? Something about that always seemed off to me, even in the commercials.

I figured as much. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have that scene in Cap 2.

Yeah, but the majority of the focus of the 90 minute documentary is on the other five films, which is great, but we've seen it before with the other special features for the Marvel films. The reason why The Avengers deserves a 2 hour documentary on its own is because of its scope and size. It's also a game changer for the superhero genre.

I was hoping for a "making of" at the least. I saw more behind the scenes stuff from YouTube than the regular blu ray.

It's really stuff that typically ends up on the Blu-ray version but they decided to save disc space by sticking it online. Would've been great for it to be on the hard copy but still nice to see it somewhere we can watch it.

I think I was giddy just based off the Sync function. That was fun.
