Fans have even doubted actors who had been in genre films. See: Chris Evans.

Fans seem to have no concept that acting involves becoming someone/ something else, and often times, actors who have played a character who is 90% the same, or even 50% the same, in another film, have no interest in repeating themselves and getting typecast. Meanwhile, actors who have never done these sort of roles are itching to spread their wings, and explore new genres, new character types etc. That's part of their craft. I admit certain characters have physical expectations attached to them, but Sharon Carter is NOT Wonder Woman. Her character doesn't center around being amazonian. She's a field agent for a spy organization. Scarlet Johansen, all 5'4" of her, just played Black Widow, a character who can, according to the Marvel handbook, bench 500 lbs. No one batted an eye. I don't see how Alison Brie is somehow beneath the physical standards of a character who's physical standards are, quite frankly, rather attainable.

Because we as nerds have very specific visuals in our heads regarding characters and any actor that doesn't fit that mold doesn't deserve the shot.

If you saw Hemsworth in Home and Away you would not see Thor. You would have panicked. His acting was really bad. But people change .I like Alison but I don't like that people only want her for the tit factor. She's a lovely girl and has alot of potential.

The movie takes place over 3 years, so he would be 27.

Technically 26, since I think he gets frozen in April or May of 1945, but close enough.

The movie was very vague about the timeline. I was never under the impression that Cap was frozen exactly right at the end of the war. It felt like mid-1944 to me. Either way, 26-27 when he was frozen.

We see him disappear, and that is promptly followed by the montage of VE-Day celebrations, and Stark finding the Tesseract around that time. Stark is clever, has both Tesseract energy samples and Arnim Zola in custody, so he likely would have found the Tesseract quickly, instead of it taking him a year. |

He "dies" fighting HYDRA in the closing days of WW2 in the comics, not the final day of May 7th, 1945. The comics put his final WW2 HYDRA fight in late April.

As for the exact date of Cap's disappearance, I think it is in February 1945. There was an auction for the props from the movie a while ago, and the catalogue features a document pertaining to Zola's capture dated February 1945. |

I'm in the camp of wanting to see Atwell play Sharon. The chemistry those two shared in the first movie will be hard to be matched.

In the comics I'm sure it was, because that's silver agey and silly, and on the nose. I could see Stan going "And wouldn't you know it, true believer, the war ended the next day!"
It's naive coincidence, and unbelievable happenstance for them to happen simultaneously. Captain America's final secret mission and the end of the actual war.

Sounds like even though she wasn't on this list, she's Marvel's top pick for the part. Out of every single actress who has been rumored for the part, she's my favorite. And the best part... Even though she may not have Hayley Atwell or Alison Brie's... um... assets, she's tall(5'9") and she actually looks her age! I'm sick of hearing everyone complain about how none of the actresses rumored look old enough. |

For the love of God yes to MEW!
And if she can't pull off the accent, just drop the accent from the role.
