Yeah, when the problem people have with the classic design is the trunks look like underwear, making them look like speedos or thongs doesn't help.

Well, it's been confirmed: Andy Diggle and Tony Daniel are the new creative team on Action Comics starting with issue #18; Morrison is leaving with issue #16 (I wonder who will do #17: fill-in, or will Morrison extended his original final issue?). Anyway, what does this have to do with Superman's costume? Well, remember Superman #0 with the black suit that we were wondering what it was all about? Well, look at the cover to #18:

Tron does not make every costume look cooler. I like the symbol though.

BTW, does anyone see the MOS influence? Like the "S", maybe even the belt, but even the return of the loss neck collar.

I do. It was better represented in the first reveal of that costume from a few weeks ago. It's an improvement on Lee's update.

Don't get me wrong I love the classic Superman costume but the New 52 Superman costume (both the T-shirt/jeans look and the armor design) has been one of my favorite redesigns(along with Smallville season 11, Man of Steel movie costume and the New 52 Earth 2, and technically the Earth One redesign but it's not really a redesign in my opinion) . Different tastes I suppose.

This... is the best redesign. Put in books and we've got new gold.

I'm still not 100% on board with the MoS design. I think it looks pretty good (and better than the SR suit) but I don't know how to feel about the details on the bodysuit. I don't see it as a feature that would become a permanent and iconic element of the suit.
And that black suit is most likely not permanent. It first appeared in Superman #0, which took place on Krypton. Superman is there but there's no explanation for how or why. I'm guessing the suit is going to be specific to a story arc. Personally though, I'd take it over the regular suit if it were in the traditional colors. It has the classic neckline and boots.

I still don't get the big problem with the SR suit.

Well, maybe the black suit is a variant or seperate suit, than a new suit. Because, BREAKING NEWS, it has been confirmed that Scott Synder and Jim Lee will be doing Superman in a new book (the rumor said it was Man of Steel, so I guess it must be that), and the promo image (and maybe the cover to issue #1) shows Superman breaking chains in the New52 suit:

Andy Diggle at NYCC said "If you see the last page in Superman #0, you'll get some clues to this new costume, and where he might be that he's wearing it." So will the black suit be more like a "for Krypton-only use" suit?
