I don't like seeing Peggy x Steve broken up. Give Peggy some kind of super serum, too (or some other kind of plotconvenientium ), and make her young and agile again, fit to fight alongside Steve.

Them being broken up was the whole point of the ending of the film. It was a tragedy.

I did some asking around with a few friends I have who run some of the websites that are usually pretty "In the know" on these sorts of things. From what I've been told, she's very much still in the running for the role and at the very top of Marvel's list. What wasn't true about the rumor was the part about it "basically being a done deal". No offers have been made as of yet. So yeah, we're still probably going to get MEW as Sharon, but it sounds like it may be a while before anything is a done deal or announced by Marvel.

And hell, if it isn't MEW, it'll probably be Alison Brie... and that'd still be pretty damn great!

What Cherokeesam said! Seriously, if TPTB are listening(), MEW is hands down the perfect actress for the role. There are a lot of great actresses being rumored, but like Chris Evans for TFA, MEW just fits. HIRE HER NOW!

Nothing against MEW, I like her as an actress, but I think the other actresses in the short list would have been much more of a genius casting than MEW, which at this point seems unimaginative and bland.

Compared to the shortlist, yeah, she's bland and unimaginative, and I agree with whichever poster said she'd be better in the MCU as Wasp.

While she's not a "step down" from the short list, I just feel like we've already seen what she'd bring to the role as Sharon in The Thing, Live Free or Die Hard, and Scott Pilgrim.

Shed be a great Wasp, but it could be a while before they get to Janet. Irregardlessly, I could see her in a few different Marvel roles. Even Scarlet Witch, though I had my heart set on Eva Green. Dont see her as SC, but it wouldnt bother me if they went with MEW.

Only if the role is as poorly-written as those.

For the record, in the case of Scott Pilgrim, I'm just talking about her role, not the movie as a whole.

Frankly, I think she's a slightly better pick than those on the shortlist, but none of them are particularly "inspired," imo.

Not gonna lie, even though I was against it at the beginning, I had very much warmed up to the idea of having a blonde-haired, American-accented Hayley Atwell playing the part. But what new actresses would I like for Sharon? There are plenty who could be good, imo.

For blondes:

-Sienna Miller
-Romola Garai
-Abbie Cornish
-Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men:FC is not in this universe, so I don't care if she's Mystique)
-Diane Kruger
-Yvonne Strahovski (a better Ms. Marvel candidate, imo, but could fit either. Move along, Majik. Nothing to see here. )


If they're not looking for a blonde Sharon:

-Rose Byrne (Don't care if she's Moira. I wanted her character to have more scenes with Evans in Sunshine.)
-Emily Blunt
-Keira Knightley (mostly just because I'm intrigued by the thought of her in a superhero flick now that she's apparently been up for two, lol)
-And yeah, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Not necessarily inspired, but still a good choice. I could believe her both as a kickass SHIELD agent AND as a relative of Haley Atwell's Peggy.

I'm sure there are others because, tbh, this should be a pretty easy role to cast compared to certain other female CBM roles, but those are just the ones who came to mind first. I basically just want someone who naturally has a certain level of toughness about them while seeming like a good match for Evans.

Felicity Jones, Imogen Poots, Anna Kendrick and Emelia Clarke are all actresses I'd love to see in a Marvel movie, and I'd be perfectly happy with any of them in this role...they just wouldn't have been on my personal list for this character at all. But then again, maybe this incarnation of Sharon Carter isn't gonna be what we're expecting, either. Based on those names, that seems like a real possibility.

First time around, reaction to Anna Kendrick was fairly similar. And then it was Allison Brie. And now its MEW.

Each have been called perfect, and frankly it was hyperbole in each case.

I will admit, I think one actress outside those three on the list could be great, as well as a couple others not on the list, but I wouldn't call any of them perfect.

I personally don't know much about each actress on the short list so don't have any real rooting interest. With this casting decision, Marvel is going to have to weigh each actress' pros and cons, but the ultimate thing will probably be what type of on-screen chemistry there is between her, Evans, and the rest of the cast.
