Love the title. Have no idea what might be about but I hope it's for something... well, haunting.

Maybe it means a "Haunted" past like how Bruce Wayne is haunted by his parent's deaths?
or it could be going back to Lex Luthor's storyline on how he's haunted by Tess? |

Bruce it's going to just appear in Detective and maybe 2 "episodes" later on but this one might have a JLER(or Clark Luthor or Solomon Grundy or something)?

Either it's Lex being haunted by Tess, or Grundy coming to Metropolis like a zombie (which he is) terrorizing a town, or both of those, or maybe Chloe dealing with the dead Chloe-2 (or tht could be added to the previous ones too). Other than that, it could be something else that we haven't come up with, and only BQM (of course) did.

I'd love for the arc to focus on Lex and Tess. They've been a highlight of season 11 for me.

![]() SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 #9 Written by BRYAN Q. MILLER • Art by JORGE JIMENEZ Cover by SCOTT KOLINS On sale JANUARY 9 • 40 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T • The first time in print for these digital-first stories. • An old friend returns to the series with a new look. What terrible secret is he carrying? • The secret of “Earth Two” Chloe is revealed. I can't wait for Bart Allen's new design but what is the terrible secret he's carrying. Hope it isn't something like Bart Allen is from the future and Wally West and/or Barry is the real Flash or he's from the alternate universe or something dumb. I like the design so far though.

^pretty sure it's been established he'll never look like Tom on the covers.
Anyway, I kinda hope it's not Bart for obviousness sake, but I definitely wouldn't mind if they made him from the future. |

It's not Bart. BQM said Bart is in the first digital issue, but not on the cover. Though that does look like the speed force around him, doesn't it?

Plus to me Bart is a combination of Barry(origin, founding member of JLA, Protects Central City, costume similar to Barry and Wally's Flash costume with a hint of Smallville Green Arrow, Captain Cold is a villian, vibrates through walls, hair do in "Run" look like John Wesley Shipp/Comics Bary, 2nd speedster after Jay,around Clark's age, moment in Rebirth where Barry and Clark seem to be same speed by Barry is revealed to be way faster than Clark, etc), Wally(got powers as a kid, fast metabolisim, flirts like Wally originally did, protect Keystone from a crisis in Hex,etc) and Bart elements(Someone(Green Arrow, Batman) named him Impulse, personality like Impulse from the comics, youngest member of the JL) in one character(similar to Wally West in STAS/JL/JLU cartoons, Barry in The Batman as well as the live action Flash show, Hairdo after Justice, etc) so it makes no sense to me to bring Barry and Wally or reveal Bart is from the future when Bart has the elements of both.

I wonder if BQM is messing with us: keeping the surprise hidden that it's Bart (and maybe he's the Flash now), all because that cover does have the someone with the speed force. Otherwise, why would the cover blacken the character out unless it was a surprise?

I GOT IT! It's Jay Garrick, he was The Flash and a member of the JSA. Before he and the other JSA members were forced into retirement or locked up by the government.

^ Good. But I think "old friend" is one of Clark's and I don't recall Clark ever meeting him. Can't remember but did any meteor freaks get the speed power?

And I don't remember him and Clark sharing a cookie together so it has to be Bart.

Jeez, Scott Kolins is good but did they really have to choose him for cover art? People have been complaining for awhile about cover art looking too cartoony, now it's just way out there. For some reason Scott Kolins reminds me a lot of John Romita Jr. and I don't think that's ok for Smallville. Anyway, is that Barry Allen? Bart isn't blond.
Edit: Nevermind, BQM said on twitter it's Bart. I guess he had a dyejob. Last edited by Johnny; 11-12-2012 at 11:42 PM. |

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Crisis. Smallville is selling kinda low (around 19 000) and Miller said that he had a "short cut" if things looked bad for the book so he could finish the season early. I really hope that's not the case because as far as I was concerned Haunted was to be something like a "mid-season finale" because the last chapter would be the one year anniversary of the book.
