Shaved my head. I think I'll make a decent Bane after all.
![]() Here's one from the side/back. Sorry for the poor lighting.

My son and I have been working on his TDKR Bane costume since August. He did a ton of research and went thru several build threads to get as accurate as possible. We purchased a nice mask, but the rest is put together from scratch.
Here's the finished product.... ![]() Everything on the vest, pants, and boots are hand made alterations. A ton of the detail work came from comparing Rdmaul's build with TDKR production pics on Google. It came out pretty good. I have a Belstaff Roadmaster jacket to finish the look! Here's a few detailed shots..... the beginning of the build, 08/2012:
![]() The front..... ![]() The back..... ![]() BaneFreak - Thanks, the mask is from Singapore, off eBay and very reasonable. The seller was Hammerheart44, we'd gotten a white Power Ranger mask from them a few years ago. The details are good, the mask is very high quality. The only thing we are going to do to the mask is create some breathing holes and some silver touch-up on the nose bridge. GED10 Last edited by GunEmDown10; 10-19-2012 at 12:55 PM. |

Looks great man. All i need is a vest and i'm complete. I'm saving for the SIQ vest. Perhaps the price will drop when the demand does.

Arrived at my convention today. We got here late so I didn't feel like putting on the vest right away.

I would likely buy Mj's in a heartbeat if it could get here on Thursday. Could it get here on Thursday?
Arraaagh! And MJ's is the best I've ever seen. |

(Just to clarify if you missed it: I'm MJ's wifeyface.)
Where are you? I think unless you're central east coast, there's not much hope of Thursday. The auction ends Wednesday night if I'm not mistaken, and he could probably be talked into overnighting it, but that gets pricey. And I will thank you on his behalf, because his work makes me swell with marital pride. Of course, the only contribution I made to his mask work was my support and a piece of a pen he found very useful. You know, THE IMPORTANT STUFF.

Okay, I think we've nailed down what to do, including how to sew down the edges invisibly and get a nice ditch. Thing is, the only way I can think to explain myself is making a youtube video about it. You still want the deets?

I live in Southern Canada. How much would over-night shipping cost? Or hell, would there be a flat price I could yank it with right away and any level of shipping that could bring it in on Thursday or earlier?
I really put this off in a bad way. But yeah, your husband is a craftsman! His Bane mask is fantastic, can't believe it's a first try, especially since it's among the best I've ever seen. |

He's always been VERY particular about his costumes, though. Last year he gave me two days notice that he wanted to be Alex from A Clockwork Orange. I had two days to make a vinyl codpiece. TWO DAYS. And we scoured the city for the correct type of suspenders. For a two day job without much chance to fix it, I think my codpiece turned out okay. Now that we've found his hidden talent, he's making me a weeping angel piece, I HAVE DECLARED IT TO BE SO. And he loves me, so I win. ![]() Okay, okay I know I'm off topic. CANADA. Ehmmmm we're in VA, and I'm not sure if there's a flat rate price where he'd be obliged to say that yes, he's willing to pull it and send it immediately. I think he's mostly curious to see what price it goes for on ebay. ((I'm curious myself!) So far there isn't a single bid, but there are 20 watchers. It makes me kind of nervous that it's going to turn into a sniper war in the last twenty minutes that it's listed, and it'll only end up selling for 203.12 or something silly, when there's clearly some interest. I mean, 203.12 is still nice, but I WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH POTENTIAL IS THERE.) He did turn down one really low offer already. (It was the initial bid ask and the offerer said his number had to include the cost of shipping. Yeah, that makes him not want to take a chance with bidding, sure!) Either way, I'm not sure he wants to take an offer with his first sale because we're not really sure what his masks are even going to go for. It's all a guessing game. And I'm sure if you offered an exorbitant number, he wouldn't want to take it because he'd feel like a jerk if his masks never go for that again. So it's tricky. If you want to check shipping rates and stuff, he would probably consider shipping to Canada if you told him what options he needs to make available on the auction. I wish we had started earlier, I'm pretty sure this vest isn't going to be anything to scoff at, either. Though I suppose if anybody wants it for conventions or collections, we could probably still take an order after Halloween. |

Would be happy to learn how you did it, but you really don't need to make a Youtube-video for it.. Just be sure you finish the costume and all in time!
(maybe you can just tell me what stitch you used and I'll try to figure out the rest)

Well, it's basically an abused ladder with a quilt stitch that hugs it very close.
There's tricks to how to abuse the ladder though. In other news: MJ has bids now, so I don't think he can pull the auction for offers anymore. |

Okay. What service are you using for shipping the item? UPS? Fedex? Puralator? I'll find out what overnight would be.
If it doesn't go up beyond my budget by Wednesday, I'll try for that. God, I hope this all works out. At least SOME sort of mask opportunity opening up. |

By "these", if you mean masks, that's an easy yes. It just won't happen before Halloween. (Though I claim no help on the mask. I'm sewing/textile construction help.) The vest? Standby, we don't know yet.
