He was up for R'as Al Ghul in Batman Begins, but they decided to pick someone older.

Guy Pearce = Marc Spector
Why is he being "wasted" to a villain role, don't know... |

I love me some Moon Knight, but Guy Pearce would be "wasted" on that role. I'd rather see Guy be a villain to an A-list hero than be a hero himself on the D-list.

I wouldn't call Tom Hiddleston wasted on a villain role.

I've found that a lot of villain roles tend to be "meatier" than hero roles, anyway. I'm just excited about the addition of Pearce; he's an excellent actor, and he has a perfect "villain voice," if that makes any sense. This movie's cast is just tremendous.

On the other hand, most villain roles become footnotes. Unless for a select few. |

Yeah. But Hemsworth still is the main man in the Thor franchise.

And? It's the part that's important not top billing.

Actually it's the part that people remember that's important. When there comes Avengers 2 people are most likely looking forward to Thor, not Loki. In most likelihood it's the protagonist role that's more popular than the antagonist role.
Heath Ledger's Joker, Darth Vader and Agent Smith of the Matrix are the rarity. IM Obadiah, IM2 Whiplash, Red Skull, Lex Luthor, etc are the norm. |

Heh! Guy Pearce is great but I was hoping for him to be cast as Dr. Strange. That would have been epic. Although I could see him as the Moon Knight as well . . . he is that versatile :0)

In short it's not a popularity contest, it's the role itself that matters.

I have to ask something slightly Off-Topic. I dont know where else to ask on this forum.
It is still about Guy Pearce. Well, I still havent seen Scotts "Prometheus" yet, since it doesent come out here until August 9th. Obviously I avoid the Prometheus thread. Dont wanna get spoiled. My question is, what role is Guy Pearce playing in Prometheus and HOW BIG is that role? Because that VIRAL TED-speech was pretty damn awesome. Is there much Pearce goodness in Prometheus? |

But to be honest his role is the best part of the movie.
Everything else was bland. |

It's the best part of the movie if you were a big fan of Benjamin Button.

I am still wondering just how big Guy Pearce's role in the film will be.

Guy Pearce likes small cameos roles his said in the past how his leading man role in Hollywood blockbuster Time Machine put him off doing more parts like that.
I don't mind the fact his doind a cameo some of the movies his done cameos in have been Oscar award winning movies like The Hurt Locker and The King's Speech

What annoys me is that it contradicts earlier reports that he would be the main villain and that the Mandarin would be the behind the scenes guy. I was really getting into the idea of what Guy could do with the role and how he could make the film if he were the main focus (in terms of villains).

![]() Guy looks incredible as Aldrich. I wonder if he would be able to steal the crown from Hiddleston's Loki (ie: Marvel's best super villain)

I have my doubts. Guy said his role was pretty small. I can picture his character being a focus of the movie, but I don't see him topping Hiddleston with a small role.

I really enjoyed Killian, I thought Guy Pearce had a lot of fun with the role but kept a greater sense of menace than Sam Rockwell did while still bringing an air of flamboyance.
