What if the DoFP timeline in the movie is an alternate world where X3 didn't take place, and what actually happened is what exactly in the comics i.e Senator Kelly assassinated, passing of Registration Act, mutant internment camps, Sentinels. This is a viable way of forgetting X3 and skipping all the deaths and the cure.

It could be the case, but you erase X3 you more then likely change X1 and 2 as well.

One way or another they will have to address where the original Trilogy stands. But the Alt changing event could very well disrupt the X1,2 and 3 timeline at the start. Anything is possible right now, there really is not enough info to know otherwise. One things for sure, time travel and Alt timlines give them alot of options. They need to make a clear path for the future films and cured mutants shouldnt be on anyones continuity to keep in the end.

The only thing that I'm worried about is that the original films would constantly focus on Wolverine; I want the next set of "X-Men" films to actually be about the group and not about the new guy turned leader of the group.

Yeah, Wolvie is great and all but I want more Colossus and Shadowcat action!

There's no need to retcon X3.

DOFP has absolutely no contradictions to X3.

Cyclops, Jean Grey, Psylocke, Callisto, Juggernaut, Rogue...

None of those characters play a part in the future faction of DOFP.

Hell, if Singer wants to bring the older Xavier into the mix, that's fine, but there's no point in resurrecting anyone or contradicting X3.

If he sticks to the comic, we'll get an amazing film.

Considering this guy directed the last X-Men movie I liked? Not the worst choice they could've made.

Singer claims there will be some very new things aside from the DoFP storyline. I bet Cyclops and Rogue will get to kick some ass. Out of the original cast of X1, they got the least amount of action. Paquin has stated that in the next movie she wants more action so hopefully she will get her due, if she returns and for Cyclops, man.. Singer and Fox owe it to him lol..

If Singer does indeed bump up the FC faction to 1980 then there's a place for a young Cyclops in the film. But Marsden's Cyclops has no place in DOFP.

Yeah, but X2 wasn't called X-MEN: GOD LOVES, MAN KILLS.

This movie is called DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

Marsden's Cyclops might not have been in DoFP, but if Marsden returns, Singer will make it work. I have a feeling at the least, Marsden, Janssen, Paquin, Jackman, Berry, Stewart, McKellan and Romjin will make appearances.

for me original cast should consist of

Wolverine
Rouge/Kitty - whichever one is the time traveler
Magneto
Storm

you need some of them dead to show the hell of a future they exist in

There's no logical justification for bringing back Marsden & Janssen.

It would feel cheap & nonsensical, like Marvel bringing back Coulson for The SHIELD series.

Xavier & Rogue may not have been in the future faction of DOFP, but if Singer puts them in it could at least make sense. Same goes for Mystique.

Jean & Scott as children if Singer bumps up the FC faction to 1980 I could accept.

This.

And you forgot Colossus who is also part of the future faction.

We don't know how much time is between X3 and DoFP future, it could be 1020 years? Even a few months after X3, Jean could have resurrected, she's Phoenix. And Cyclops could have been found to be alive. We never saw him explode or disintegrate like the others, this doesn't go against what happened in X3 either.

It shouldn't look like the Danger Room scene. The Danger Room scene looks too much like generic piles of rubble and slabs of concrete, instead of an actual city.

But if Senator Kelly's assassination happens after X2 why the need to go back to the 60s?

I think it's possible that the apocalyptic future happens in a timeline where none of the X1-X3 happened at all and where the characters have had completely different lives. So the crucial event in the 60s is where the different timelines diverge:

1) Timeline where the 60s event happens and which leads to apocalyptic future, in which X1-X3 never happened.

2) Timeline in which the event is averted and in which X1-X3 happens.

Agreed. I believe, in the books, the apocalyptic future still occurs because they send Kitty to the wrong past. There are so many potential timelines and angles by which to approach the story, anything is possible.

I still wouldn't expect a direct translation. The last movie was called First Class.

I still wouldn't expect a direct translation as though it's set in stone. At this stage no one knows which way the movie is going, so I don't see the point in telling people this or that can't happen because it didn't happen in the comics.

It's really anyone's guess as to what form Days of Future Past will take at this stage.
