I'll defend Shane until the death of me. I honestly believe he thought Rick was dead and you cannot fault Lori or him for naturally growing close, especially in her time of need. I bet Shane took insanely great care of Lori and Carl, and was actually probably a fantastic leader before Rick came around.

Dude, Shane left Rick there and yeah, he closed the door, but he might has well have left him for dead.

Mind you, I loved Shane throughout the show, and thought he brought a great dynamic to it while he was around. He was a dick though, and I'm sure that if Rick wasn't in the picture, he would drop the group in two seconds because he only cares for Lori and Carl.

Thats the difference between Rick and Shane. I have no doubt in my mind Rick would have rolled Shane out of there instead of just blocking the door knowing he was still alive. There is also the fact that Shane outright lied to Lori and told him he saw Rick die. Think about that. If Shane had told Lori he left Rick in a comatose state and there was the small possibility Rick was still alive, she might not have jumped on his dick that quickly. She knew it was wrong too because they were sneaky about it too even though everyone pretty much knew. She was ashamed.

You know, for a long time, the only character I've ever been happy so see get killed in a movie/TV show was Det. Alonso Harris in Training Day. Now, Shane joins him. In fact, Shane might even be a tad sweeter since he got killed twice.
