Robocop 3 is a great film, one of Frank Miller's best effort in cinema, if not his best
As blah as plenty of his work is (Dodgeball as a prime example), he's still a better comedian than Adam Sandler, Kevin James (outside King of Queens) and Ashton Kutcher, miles better than them

IM2 and QoS both are in that category of not living up to their predecessors. But at the same time, I wouldn't call those movies horrible or even bad, again, just not as good as the first ones....

I loved how it was a perfect combination of modern day spy thriller in the post 9/11 era and a Bond Movie.

i see quite a few movies, but i tend to avoid the ones i know will be bad, so that's probably why those two films are near the bottom of my list.
love guru is the worst film i have seen in the past 5 years. zohan is close as well. |

Unpopular Opinion: Skyfall was far from one of the best Bond movies, and ultimately suffered from having a really mediocre script.

I think how much you enjoyed Skyfall depends almost entirely on how you responded to the halfway point's complete shift in tone.
Personally, I loved it. |

The James Bond theme is the greatest movie theme of all time.

I appreciate Frank Miller's The Spirit and the Wachowski's Speed Racer. I wouldn't necessarily say they are good films, but they are both so goddamn strange in what they attempt that I at least think they are admirable in their ambition. People seem to really hate these two (although I've seen a considerable amount of people turning around to Speed Racer) and they both definitely are flawed, but I can't help but enjoy them for trying something different especially when so many in the comic book genre are so damn bland and devoid of any joy.

I can see little spots of a good film in Speed Racer, but The Spirit just left me apathetic. I have never cared less about a film. I saw it, and I just couldn't give a **** the whole time.

I saw the trailer, thought it looked stupid.
I saw the movie and...I was right. But then again, we're here for a reason

Also, another very unpopular opinion; M. Night Shyamalan was a fantastic director. Not very unpopular for The Sixth Sense, as that was generally well regarded, but I would argue he is far more than a one hit wonder.
Unbreakable is one of the best films of the last decade. Signs is a great film, and all the arguments about the "plothole" regarding the water weakness are overblown. The Village is also very underrated. I remember the general distaste towards the film upon its release was directed primarily at the twist ending and I've never heard any sufficient criticism against it other than that it basically stopped it from being a monster/horror film and turned into a drama. I found it to be a fascinating twist to be honest, and the reasoning behind it really affecting. Now I only saw Lady in the Water once way back upon release, and I remember not being too impressed, but found it just ok. Preachy, yes, not too subtle, but horrible? No, just unremarkable compared to his prior work. The Happening and The Last Airbender now, I mostly agree with the criticisms. The Happening was an unsuccessful attempt at creating a B-Movie, and for the most part was just boring. The Last Airbender was pretty bad, but people really get so childish in their hatred for it, because it's a beloved property. So he's not made anything really good in almost a decade now, but I really think people undermine his past achievements. Whether he's lost his mojo or just need something that really challenges him again remains to be seen. But I think it's pretty far off to say he only got lucky in his first film. I'm really pulling for After Earth. Maybe he just needs to direct someone else's stuff.

I like both those movies a lot. I'm a big nerd for the digital backlot type of filming. You can do so much with simple sets. Ever since Sky Captain I've admired what you can do with worldbuilding. I swear I thought by now we would have a glut of fantasy/sci-fi movies and tv making use of it

I like it too, but not Britt, don't like making the main character a wimp
