The added shimmer of the soaked Bat-suit really added a lot to that scene.
Actually, I think the Bat-suit was overall photographed amazingly in this film. |

Its a minor touch, but I really liked the breeze flowing against/around the fringes of Batman's cape while he's standing over Bane's motorcycle mercenary.
My favorite part of that sewer fight is right before Bane breaks Batman: Batman, roaring, flies at Bane and gets put down real quick. Wally's work when we first see Bane in his lair was excellent. I believed that they'd play with the angles to give Hardy some height but holy molley he looked big in that scene.

Love that moment except for the whimpy looking punch Batman throws.

If the general public walk away from the film knowing that Bane is the man who broke that Bat and for his brute force then thats good enough for me because thats what he is mainly known for in the comics. The film had hints of him being very smart and him using something to inhance his body. Bane was also in a prison. He let criminals free from a prison to run free in gotham. Nolan just gave him different things so he could be the anti bruce for his version of the bat mythos. Still true to the comics. Bane even had his own underground hideout with waterfall. He had bruces weapons and tumblers. Los training. Mask except bruce can take his off. I could go on. Bruce might of became something like him if he stayed with the Los. Its pretty cool when I think about it.

The water added to the scene, no doubt. The sound it made, the look of it. Batman lying on the ground getting soaked added to his helplessness, as if he's being weighed down and drowned.

Not until the 28th, I know it's frustrating for everyone but we have always had a zero tolerance rule for pirated material.

Fair enough. I had posted a YT link earlier but I've removed it.

So since I haven't chimed in on this in FOREVER...Bane was pretty good. Now to think of any criticisms I had for the performance... hmm...Nope nothing to report. Carry on.

In terms of performace Hardy delivered the goods. I think most of the criticisms are centred around his motivations and such.

Ya, I agree with that. It is all stuff kind of out of his control, but overall the movie wasn't about Bane or Talia. This was a movie about Batman. So knowing that I will let all of his motivations pass.
I think while he was portrayed perfectly, I feel he was written kind of not as menacing as I had always pictured Bane. I felt that all his anarchy and chaos had a motive, which kind of takes out the danger for me. Where as the Joker or other great villains you don't know what will set them off all of a sudden. But again that isn't in Bane's character, and that is a personal preference. Overall Hardy brought the goods and stands tall in a trilogy with excellent antagonists.

Of course. The characterization was fantastic, I love the para-military look, the calm demeanor, the swagger, the voice, his characterization was just as good, if not better, than the Joker. Hardy gave a great performance also. But I just didn't buy his motivation. Nothing in the film made me believe that he would take over Gotham just to appease a man who hated him, nor did there seem to be enough motivation for him to be dedicated to the League of Shadows ideals in the first place. Ra's explains his wife's loss, Bruce was motivated by the death of his parents, Why is Bane so dedicated to the ideals of the league of Shadows? The only real motivation shown is Talia, and that is what makes him a good (instead of GREAT) villain.

Bane did seem to have this type of "loyal dog" type aspect with Talia.
Similar to a little sister and a big daddy. (Bioshock) A very loving relationship, not in a romantic type of way but something much deeper that wasn't quite touched on. And I think that is what made me like his character even more. Like there was some love that will never be addressed. I personally think Talia really saw him for who he really was, and showed the only sort of love he has ever known. When she returned he (In my opinion) was loyal to her and only her. If he had his way he probably would have been done with the league long ago.

When Bane was kicked out of the LoS, was he sent back to the prison?

Imo, I think Hardy's Bane is one of the best in the trilogy, right under Ledger's Joker. Heck, those two play two very different villains that they could even rival eachother, imo.

If you mean revealing the truth about Dent that's true. But destruction of Gotham and the death of Batman are two things Joker didn't want. Life without Batman would be so dull for him.
