A very loving relationship, not in a romantic type of way but something much deeper that wasn't quite touched on. And I think that is what made me like his character even more. Like there was some love that will never be addressed.

I personally think Talia really saw him for who he really was, and showed the only sort of love he has ever known. When she returned he (In my opinion) was loyal to her and only her.

If he had his way he probably would have been done with the league long ago.

Little Talia had no obligation to return to the pit and bring her father to rescue Bane. For all she knew, he was probably dead. It's actually similar to Catwoman returning to Gotham (under no obligation whatsoever) to help with the assault, even if she doesn't know if Batman is hurt or dead already. The difference is that Bruce and Selina want to move on, while Bane and Talia only wish to wallow in their hatred and let it consume them.

So in that way, I see Talia and Bane as partners, and yes, loving partners in a relationship that is perhaps incomprehensible to the rest of the world. IMO both held too much hatred to really be in what we consider a proper romantic relationship. Bane had potential for empathy, but it was snuffed out by what was done to him in that pit, and perhaps by the LoS too. (It's hard to say whether he hates Ra's, or maybe empathizes with him. I mean, he did rescue Bane from that pit and all.) The only mercy he had left was for Talia, the lone person to came back for him. But they're both monsters, really.

I just watched the original prologue for the first time in a really long time and the way Bane says "with no survivors" is so matter of fact and calm and so not like the way it is in the finished film.

The Gambol death of Rises. Daggett losing his cool and Bane standing firm like an immovable rock. Not phased or bothered at all. Sensing Daggett's unease but not backing off, remembering the attitude he displayed earlier when he though he was in charge.

What do people think the nolans used bane for this film? And dont say because heath ledger died. I know he didnt want riddler because he is too similar to joker. And this batman hadnt been up against someone as brutal as bane but why else? To tie the story back bb. Just think why bane? I love that he did I would just like to know why the nolans did it.

Nolan selected Bane because -

* Bane represented a challenge on two levels for Batman, physically he was better and he had the same training, and he wanted to break his spirit. Joker challenged Batman mentally and morally.

* Bane has had been associated with RaS al Ghul, Talia and League of Shadows which helped Goyer to tie it to BB.

* Joker represented chaos into civilized world of Gotham, Bane used a calculated plan to destroy Gotham using class inequalities, class divide, using Bruce Wayne's resources, using resources of rich corrupt people like Dagget.)

* Many other Batman villains are based in / originated in Gotham, like Penguin, Hugo Strange, Poison Ivy. (others don't fit into Nolan verse like Man-bat, Clay Face) Bane was an outsider who could have had some history with LOS organization.

"Unmasking" Bruce Wayne before the fight was just downright cold, and set the whole tone for the scene, at that point Batman knew what he was dealing with.

Then pulling the cowl off at the end was the icing on the cake.

I love how Bane casually drops the cowl after he takes it off Batman. That was definitely his "Broken...and done" moment.

Well I didn't mean anything romantic. It is a different type of love that is completely platonic relationship, similar to best friends and even family. Bane is not a character who I would see following Talia, let alone rescue her if he didn't love her in a sense. (Again note that I am using love losely not the literal romantic translation of it.)
Same with Talia, I don't think she would have gone back at all if she did not love him in return. It would be naive to think Bane was alive after being mauled. That was the last image she saw of him, so going back she probably did beg and plead with Rah's to come back to the jail to even see if he was alive.

As for their views on the world, I think they both have a hatred for the world, but the hatred is more of a cynical view. \Bruce Wayne is the opposite and is oddly enough very optimistic. Now for what Bane thought of Rah's, I really think he was indifferent to Rah's. He seems to sophisticated to really hold a grudge. But they really aren't truly monsters. They came from a world of suffering. Talia was left in a prison where all that was known was hatred and cinicism. They felt the whole world needed to be fixed and the ends would justify the means, though they were brutal they wanted to 'save' Gotham.

(well Rah's did,& Talia wanted to be the proper daughter for her father. Bane I think just did it for Talia since he couldn't be the proper suitor for her giving her Gotham was the next best thing)

Now Joker can be seen as a monster because he wanted to destroy it all for laughs.

(This is my opinion on the matter, not saying yours is wrong or worse or inferior in anyway)

Zod I get, but when talking about a strategic mind and raw strength, that combo doesn't really come to mind when I think of Venom. I only think of raw strength when thinking of Venom; but for both...imo, I would think Doc Ock fits the role. His strength comes from his tentacles and we know how intelligent Otto is.

I think the Venom comparison works to a degree. Both are kind of like evil dopplegangers of the hero (in their respective movies especially), both know the hero's secret identity and stalk them, Eddie Brock is usually drawn as a hulking mass in the comics, like Bane...heck, Bane even uses a drug called Venom, though that's just a happy coincidence. Bane definitely edges Venom out in the intelligence department though.
