I think it's likely Chewbacca will be back, but it won't be Peter. As mentioned he can't move around all that much.I'm sure Antony Daniels will return as C3-PO and I'm sure R2D2 will too, but I'm not sure how Kenny Baker is doing these days.

If indeed most of the old cast would return I'm not sure that I really want to see them playing a big part of the movie. I would like to see Luke playing a major role like Alec Guiness and the rest of them getting only cameos.

Chewbacca and R2 won't be that hard to re-cast since they don't require a speaking voice. Daniels on the other hand really only need to provide his voice for C-3PO.

Agreed,I find them kinda boring But I watch&listen to all of them fully for some reason,Maybe I'm just so interested&excited for a new SW trilogy that I'm hyped for anything related to it

After hiring Michael Arndt to script the first installment of the relaunch of George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise, I’ve heard Disney has approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg and I believe it is to get the ball rolling on the subsequent installments mapped out by Lucas. Both of the scribes in question have franchise experience.

Kasdan scripted two of the original Star Wars films in the 1980 The Empire Strikes Back and the 1983 follow-up Return of the Jedi. He also scripted Raiders Of The Lost Ark for Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Kinberg’s franchise work: X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes and the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past which Bryan Singer will direct.

Disney’s $4 billion buy of George Lucas’ signature franchise certainly has stirred up passions from fans. I’m still feeling so led down by the last three films that I am not sure they can bring back the magic on the original trilogy, which was so groundbreaking for its time. But that time seems like a galaxy so far far away.

Back in the late 1970s, Star Wars set the bar for visual effects in science fiction. Doing that again is very difficult in the age of The Hobbit, The Dark Knight and Avatar. But Disney was certainly proven right when it spent the same money on Marvel, and already has made back much of that cash with The Avengers.

Disney plans to generate a film every other year starting in 2015. Getting great writers is the right way to relaunch Star Wars, and the studio got off to a good start hiring Star Wars fanatic Arndt to do the first installment. The studio has told me that they will not address speculation. Fair enough. But I’m going to go with my sources on this one and I would not be surprised if these guys sign on, or if they are already in the fold.

I hope they go with Kasdan with part 8 and 9.

If all else it's a bit hard to write them all roughly at the same time. It's possible that Kinberg or Kasdan will be in constant communication with Arndt so all screenplays can have a common singular voice and consistencies.

That and maybe they can take write the first drafts for the later Episodes and Arndt can polish them up.

It's smart to include the writer that was one of the elements that helped make the OT feel special. "Empire" is still smart, dramatic and funny till this very day.

My only complaint is tar Kasdan hasn't done anything remarkable as of late and yes, Dreamcatcher is probably on the of the worst movies I've seen. (cynical rant off)

Kinberg seems to be a studio man through and through. Hire him to script doctor or polish things up for the studio. He's a safe choice but he's not the boldest of writers.

It's actually hard to tell if he's talented solo (no pun!) since his projects tend to include 3-4 other writers credited. X-Men Days of Futures Past will be an indicator.
