In fact, play AC2 only if you must. AC1 is a terrible way to introduce yourself to the franchise, and it's really unnecessary to play to understand the rest of the series. After playing any and all of the sequels, AC1 will feel like an overblown tutorial mission for the meat of the franchise, which is contained in AC2.

I still don't think AC 1 was that bad. The gameplay was surely bloody repetitive, but it was a great opening to the series. The format, the story, the ambience that is in future titles all started with that game and I enjoyed it at the time.
Once you play AC 2, it's very ahrd to go back to AC 1 so if you ever want the full AC experience, I would say you're best to start with AC 1, give it a bit and then if you hate it, skip straight ahead to AC 2. But you should at least give it a shot.

Well yes and no.. First of all, Altair was given a lot of development in AC Revelations...
But mainly, I would say AC 1 is very important in terms of endearing you to Desmond and understanding him. Especially since so much of the series involves him, thats where AC 1 is a good starting point.

why start any series anywhere but 1? sure its boring at times, but some of the assassinations are great...
start with 1... force yourself through the boring parts... enjoy the **** out of AC2... and i cant say much for brotherhood or revelations bc i though the spinoffs were stupid... and then AC3 is a lot of fun too.

I'm on sequence 8 and trying to fast travel to NY but it won't let me. It lets me select it and hit X for fast travel but then it acts like nothing happened.
Am I missing something. |

I won't have the game until Black Friday But a friend of mine told me about the ending and so I'm wondering IF anyone knows IF this is the last AC game or will the next one be different withnew characters including a new protagonist to replace Desmond??
As I posted on the last page or few pages back..I never liked Desmond&the sci-fi elements with the machine,Cool concept But I wish the games were about Altair&Ezio without them being ancestors in memories found/unlocked by a machine. That stuff has been done in 5 games plus handheld games,AC IV could start a totally new direction in a modern setting,I'd like.. Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

How come the "blue coats" are attacking me as well? I just murdered about 300 of them due to trying to bribe the guy to get my notoriety down, but they were respawning at a ridiculous rate. |

No, it's not ****ed.
I experienced something similar when trying to get to New York originally....pretty sure there's some sort of story element you have to complete first, but I can't remember what it is. And the reason the bluecoats (the Colonial Regulars) attack you as well as Redcoats is that AC3 isn't as simple as America vs. Britain. It's Templar vs. Assassin, and there's loyalty on both sides of the Revolution; so yes, you'll find many Americans who hate you just as much as the British do.

I think its just you because from what I remember the only big areas in AC2 is Venice and Florence.
