The Cheetah now has the power to turn people into cat people with a bite
What would happen if she bit a cat? Would it become a humanoid cat? Or somehow become a werecat cat, changing from being a normal cat to being a more angry and violent cat? Or would it just be confused and disturbed as to why this strange womanwas biting it? These are important questions ![]() Quote:

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I am thoroughly enjoying WW's solo title. It's probably b/c it's very heavy with Greek mythology, which I eat up.

you should check out george perez's run when wonder woman was relaunched in the late 80's. Real heavy with the greek mythology. good stories too.

There was lots of it in Rucka's run too plus his run was just amazing in general and well worth picking up in trades

It's wordy as hell, though.
Not that that's a bad thing, though.

80s comics were definitely way more wordy. Its something to be expected when diving into old comics. But if you can get past that, there are some great stories to be enjoyed.

About 3 issues long before abandoning it to another writer using his notes, and completely terrible.

I think he realised just how awful it was and decided to abandon writing it

I do like the idea of a talking cat but if his run was crap I won't bother with it.

Ok so....I'm wondering if there's something wrong with me. I bought the first 10 issues on comixology of Azzarello's run and read through em and.....I dunno, it just isn't doing it for me. I'm not by any means saying it's badly written but for some reason i can't connect with anything that happens in the book. Now, granted, I am not too familiar with Greek mythology and it seems like this series hinges ALOT on your familiarity with these characters so i'm thinking thats the reason why. But I'm really interested in learning more about Wonder Woman and reading a good definitive story. I was hoping Azzarello's and Chiang's run would be it since everyone's raving about it but again, I feel like i have no idea what's going on, even after 10 issues. I get the general premise of the story...i think, but I find myself not understanding alot of what's going on.
Am i the only one who feels this way?

Nope, I dropped this series after a few issues too. It just didn't really interest me. Ironic, given that I'm a huge mythology fan.

Ok, good to know I'm not alone. I see rave reviews for this book everywhere so I figured it'd be a good jumping on point for a good Wonder Woman story. But I just can't fully get into what's happening, i feel like Azzarello drops alot of things on you without really introducing you to them. Oh, well. The art's pretty though.

I don't know anything about Greek mythology but I follow it just fine using the context of everything.

I just feel like if your not familiar with Greek Mythology characters or Wonder Woman's mythology in general, this book could be a very tough read for you. Like I said, I think Azzarello writes this assuming the people who are reading it are already well-versed in both of these.

I'm really not happy at all with what he's done to the Amazons in this series or the whole thing with Zeus being Wonder Woman's dad either
![]() I do like how he writes Wonder Woman herself though

I've been loving Wonder Woman. It's great story telling, simple as that. There's no "I must write the biggest, most epic, most amazing comic in the history of the medium" b.s. which is why I really love Azzarello. He's no nonsense. And as of Wednesday, this book is the only DC book I'll be reading for the time being.
While I can see how long time WW fans are annoyed by some of the changes(the amazons raping sailers for instance was totally bonkers), I think the story telling here is top notch. Then again, this is my first significant exposure to the character outside a few golden age reprints and the first arc of Perez's run so my opinion's a bit skewered there. But 10-12 were the three best issues thus far and I'm super excited to see where Azzarello goes with the New Gods. |
