I don't know where to ask this because I don't know which is the 'lounge' area, but...is there any news on Avengers trying to get nominations? I think they definitely have chances with some categories.

I remember seeing that neither Disney or Paramount pushed for anything.

That kinda sucks. I greatly think it was a contender for visual effects, costume design, maybe even cinematography.

After seeing The Avengers a few more times, I'd really like to see what the different drafts, from Penn's original script onward, were like, and how different they were to the finished product. Has anything like this happened before? Or would they only ever release shooting scripts?

Stranger things have happened. I have the Robert Smigel/Jack Black Green Lantern script. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that the script finds it way online at some point.

the only awards I've heard of were the people's choice with several catagories

This movie won't even win an MTV Movie Award & that is only because the last Twilight movie will win every single award there

I'm sure that The Avengers will pick up some visual effects and sound nominations. I'd love to see the score get nominated, but that won't happen.

I think the MA's got bad around the middle 2000's, because the 90's through the early 00's were good imo. I think the MTV MA's for '13-'15 are going to be great. There will be no Twilight to dominate the awards and there seems to be really cool movies coming out.

Deadline has learned that the Visual Effects branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences has narrowed the list of Oscar contenders for Achievement In Visual Effects to 10 films. Those 10 finalists are:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
John Carter
Life Of Pi
Marvel’s The Avengers

Among the films passed over were Men In Black 3, The Impossible, Flight, Looper, Total Recall, The Hunger Games and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

There are only 5 nominees. Which 5 will it be??

So is Miss Marvel really going to be in the sequel?

If I recall, she eventually loses her powers and memories to Rogue and is bedridden in a hospital forever.

If they do include Miss Marvel in the sequel, how are they possibly going to explain or deal with this subplot of Miss Marvel ??

We don't know if Ms. Marvel's gonna be in it, but I can guarantee you that if she were, they would not bother with that subplot. Not just for the obvious legal reasons - there's more to Ms. Marvel than that storyline.

They wouldn't have to explain or deal with it at all. Not every detail of a characters history from the comics is used in the movie universe.
