Yeah, Cavill was great in The Tudors and Immortals. I can understand why some people might still be unsure of how he'll be as Superman, but those roles should at least confirm that he's a solid actor. Especially considering how I see people on this board defend average-to-minimal talents like Sam Worthington and Taylor Kitsch.

I think he is pretty good in all season 4. Some episodes he is very Superman like. Like when he is analyzing the destruction and stuff.

As for as Cavill' acting ability that was mentioned above, for me, he was fine in the Immortals.

It's possible if they go down the Brainiac-Krptonian AI route.

I wonder if the Black Zero ship chases baby Kal-els vessel? Or perhaps during the whole Krypton civil war, Earth is chosen as refuge and all Kryptonians become aware of it. Perhaps Zod seeks it for the yellow sun, wanting power.

I think he is pretty good in all season 4. Some episodes he is very Superman like. Like when he is analyzing the destruction and stuff.

I think his acting is just fine. I do find myself over analyzing and that's not fair. Looking for Superman in every thing he does. However, I do see a lot of it in him. Unlike other actors that were up for the roll.

It's very possible that they're playing up that angle, that earth is being eyed by Jor-El as a haven or something due to its conditions.

Yeah we know, or think we know, that he sends a scout ship there ahead. That has Kal-Els suit and his 'ghost' or some recording summarizing Kryptons doom. And he sends the key to it with baby Kal.

It's clearly all been premeditated by him at some point as opposed to sudden crisis and seismic core collapse under Kryptons surface and only desperately managing to save Clark just in time (not that that still can't happen to some extent, it's just early planning would have been in place by him as well).

Maybe Zod will release brainiac at the end of the movie after superman defeats him as a means of making sure his plan of earths destruction still carries through.

Iron Man did well in that respect. Takes out the terrorists and feeds their leader to the crowd. Not that I'd want something like that from Supes.

Though I will say that the way they portrayed the public helping Spidey in ASM was better, though still almost as cheesy.

I doubt it's Earth's destruction that he's after. (It's such a common evil plan) I think Zod will perhaps be motivated by recreating Krypton from Earth. Perhaps enslaving Earth. I dunno.

I just hope it's not too planned, as I like Superman's placement on earth to be more or less a fluke. As long as there's no BS prophecy or crap like that.

Yeah that worries me as well. Like hopefully he didn't send Kal as some final failsafe to finish the war with Zod or something to fulfill some prophecy. And give the people an ideal to strive toward so they'll... (oh no). I hope that speech is what leads into the credits as Clark comes to becoming Earth's hero on his own and that is Jor-Els ghost realizing this and speaking his potential. Please please.

Who knows. He may just be so brainwashed by his training that he lives his job which is to lead, control and fight disorder.

But what a sweet introduction to Brainaic if true. Not unlike the way TDK-trilogy handled its villains. Someone bigger always pulling strings in the shadows.

Ugh. I've never thought about that. The more I consider that, the more it pains me to realize that we are going to get Jor-El expecting Kal to become Superman to some extent. Agh.

There's a 90s comic I remember, I think it was a Superboy comic where he got the name Kon-El where he experiences the final hour of Krypton and Jor-El brings up a screen showing Kal-El as a grown man with his shirt off working on a farm. Lara is repulsed by it. But Jor-El says at least he will live and it's for the best.

Maybe even that's too much but damnit he shouldn't be the one who decides for Clark to become Superman.
