Yeah, if he wants to direct, he can knock himself out. I wasn't a fan of him getting the role though.

While I initionally was most looking forward to Marvel starting out with a Heroes 4 Hire movie,I'd love to first see Roach's Luke Cage movie and then a solo Iron Fist movie with a H4H movie as a sort of "sequel" to both come out afterwards. Great changes/updates Roach!

I want to see more non-parody black superhero films come out. I remember the early 90s, Blankman and Meteor Man were experiments with middling success (though I give Robert Townsend props for at least trying to avoid being a 100% satire and having a social message..) Any updates on indie black comics/film projects?

Do you watch Misfits Hyperstyle?

Its a pretty good superpowered tv show and a number of the leads and supporting characters are black.

Noel Clarke said his working on his own black superhero film now.

Working on your own I think is the only real way to go right now.

MiSFiTS is AWESOME. Love that show. Curtis is still kicking it too, the last original left.

It's awesome, but they aren't really superheros.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...aizan-the-demo

^^Help an e-buddy of mine with his creator owned project. I've "known" this guy for years online, and finally met him for real at HeroesCon earlier this year. He's done a lot of great artwork for me on the project(s) I'm working on, so it's only right I help pimp his stuff!

If his project blows up, maybe one day there will be a movie (like how I brought it back on topic?)

Neil Cross who wrote and created Idris Elba detective how Luther

Cross also talked about how he created the character - specifically, whether he always intended for Luther to be a black man:
Quote:
“It was cast as a character, purely and simply, which is one of the aspects that attracted Idris to the role. I have no knowledge or expertise or right to try to tackle in some way the experience of being a black man in modern Britain. It would have been an act of tremendous arrogance for me to try to write – and you have to try to imagine the quote marks around the words – a black character because I don’t know what a black character is and we would have ended up with a slightly embarrassed, ignorant, middle-class, white writer’s idea of a black character, which would have been an embarrassment for everybody concerned. I suspect that there’s a dearth of decent roles for black actors because most writers are white and they try to write their idea of black and it’s an embarrassment.”
The man speaks the truth

That is like the unspoken thing they all know, but will never admit.

I did see Flight last night at the Chicago International Film Festival, and it was definitely some of Denzel's better work. He's more of an anti-hero, not like Training Day but more of just kind of a despicable character. I like when he goes out of that zone in roles.

I didn't know the director of Rise of the Guardians was a brother. Something new every day.

Hold off on that latest entry in the "X" or "Bat" franchise and throw some $$$ his way
